    Hello all –

I am new to this. I’ve applied, still waiting on an answer from the Virgin Islands’ Board but in the meantime, I should be studying. I have done a little here and there, but starting yesterday, I actually buckled down and put in a number of hours.

I know that everyone has their own way of doing things and studying is one of them, but I wanted a general view.

How long before the exam did you start studying?

How many hours did you study for?

Did you pass on your first try?

    FAR - 61
    REG - 02/28/15
    BEC - ??
    AUD - ??

    VI Local Exam - ??

It's not about how BAD you WANT it. It's About how HARD you are willing to WORK FOR IT!!!

Hi Pearl, which island are you from? I am from Tortola living in New York and taking the exam under NY jurisdiction. Really great to find someone on her also from the Virgin Islands.

I'm actually from St. Thomas, but it's only a boat / ferry ride away.

Heck yeah it is awesome to find a neighbor in here.

I actually put in a decent amount of time for FAR. It was my first test so I was still excited to get it tackled. hahahah

I started studying in June and took the test July 5th or something like that. So about a month of time and I would say I put in 80 hours or so?

    Hope that helps!

Not far from your islands, from Puerto Rico living in FL 😉

    To answer your questions:

** I would recommend that you download the NINJA freebies to keep track of your study.

    1. AUD – 6 weeks, 20 hours per week and passed on the first try

    2. FAR – 8-9 weeks, 20 hours per week and failed with a stupid 74. For re-take I studied for about 6 weeks and passed

    3. BEC – 6 weeks, 20 hours per week and passed on the first try

    4. REG – 8 weeks, 20 hours per week and failed with a 70. Then for re-take I studied for 6 weeks and passed.

Unless you are planning to take all the exams in one window, I would suggest that you make a plan to take 2 exams per window. You are going to be studying almost every day, but be sure that it will pay off.

    Good Luck!!!

    Done 😉
    Class of 2012!!!!
Lots of prayers and hard work....

For my studying I use Becker primarily and then supplement with Wiley. I get the Wiley book for each section i'm taking and do their questions. The Wiley books are really good but the material they cover can be overwhelming so even though I would recommend them as far as extra practice I won't recommend that you get hang up on reading the material if you are using Becker as your primary source of studying. Each exam is different and I believe everyone has their own personal ‘beast'. For me that was BEC, took it 3 times and got 71, 74 then finally a whopping passing score of 75, (works for me). You will find each section also comes with varying time of studying depends on what you are comfortable with. There are posts on here that will tell you whats recommended but in the end it is all up to the individual. I just started studying again to retake REG and for me this is my personal favourite, thats why I took it first. I especially like the Business Law topics so i know once I get to those it will be a breeze going over it. I believe this exam is very mental and you have to be in the right state of mind to take them. When I started I was confident and took REG and pass on my first try and then I got sick and did not take any other exam for a while. When I decided to start again I was not feeling the same and the motivation sometimes was just not there and no matter how much I was studying nothing was sticking. I knew I wanted to get pass these exams and started back fully focus in Jan and re-took BEC and pass with about a month of studying. I took FAR last window with about 2 months of studying and passed also. I already had credit for AUD and now I'm looking to study about a month for REG and retake it Oct 28th.
