I start at about 8pm and go past 3am sometimes. But then again I just graduated college in May and my real job doesn't start till September so I'm in a different situation. I'm using Becker and each chapter is about 70 pages long and 200 MCs, plus I watch lectures. So I can only cover 2 chapters a week without a full time job!

On a weekday after work, usually only til 11 or midnight. I know when start to lose focus I have to stop or I'll be doing more harm than good.

You guys are crazy. I usually do about 6 to 9:15 or so. Sometimes earlier. Three hours is enough for me plus 6 each weekend day. If I can't pass doing 27 hours a week of studying, I probably won't pass at all anyway.

I study full time but I space it out in the day and take breaks. I probably get through 2 lectures a week of becker as big shot cpa said.

I will go until 12am sometimes if I started up again after dinner.

    whitesoxfan,

it all depends on what kind of learner you are. I tend to take breaks while reading and cannot study for 3 hours in a row. My 6 hours only equal about 3 study hours (I even youtubed ‘procrastination' the other day while procrastinating). And now I'm obsessed with another71. You received an amazing score on AUD so I guess your study plan works for you! Good luck on FAR!

    big shot cpa,

I did not mean to say that other study methods are bad. If I came off that way I apologize. When I said you guys are crazy I didn't mean you study methods are bad. I just meant that for me, studying until midnight would be counterproductive.

I'm the type of person who needs structure. I have a written study plan and I've followed it 100%. My studying is from 6-9 each night and 8-4 on the weekends. Weeknights I really only take breaks to pee or get something to drink. Weekends I do the same and also take about 20 minutes a couple times to grab something to eat. It seems nuts but I need that structure. So far it's worked out. Now, if I'm feeling behind for some reason, I'll absolutely spend more time on the weeknights. But usually when 9 rolls around, I slam the book shut, close the computer, and turn on ESPN. I have a couple days of “miscellaneous studying” built in so if I ever feel like I need another day on a topic, I have it.

Good luck to all! We all have our different methods but the end goal is the same.

I study full-time as we speak.

I went from F1 to F7 (while watching lectures and making my own flashcards) in 2 weeks (with one weekend out of two off).

Now I'm reviewing F1 thru F7 by doing a lecture each day.

Yesterday I rewatched all F1 lectures, retook all homework MCQs, and I finished after dinner by doing the supplemental questions and the simulation.

I start studying at 10am and take a little break after every topic. Then of course dinner break (2 hours). I finished at around 10pm yesterday.

    So far so good.

    italianCPA,

wow! that's what i call dedication! i only wish i could do the same! i'm still taking a class at university of MD to get my 150 because I graduated with 147 (that's why i applied in VA, VA still lets you sit for the exam with 120 credits). I don't even do the simulations, and I'm still only able to cover 2 becker chapters a week :-/ I have a feeling you will pass lol! Good luck on FAR- taking mine July 16 (if NASBA decides to finally send me an NTS- it's been a week), and I'm still on F4…

    whitesoxfan,

in no way did i take your comment as an offense lol. I was just complimenting you on your ability to concentrate!

I try to start studying after supper is made and cleaned up….but it's not really productive.

My productive time starts at 8 after the kids are in bed…I try to at least go to 11….but it's hard for me.

I have to be at work at 7 in the morning…and am a HUGE grump if I don't get my sleep.

    I will echo that wow…

I can't get that much done lecture wise. I start to stop paying attention so I really only break down doing a lecture in 2-3 days with the accompany multiple choice. I think you reviewing the lectures (one a day) is a good idea as part of your final review. I usually don't rewatch the lectures though. I guess if I didn't have to take notes that might be an okay idea. I will try that with AUD.

Hey hey! Easy with those wows!

I stuck a long weekend in Vegas with a friend of mine (where I had the guts to bring my laptop and books, not touched though) and all seven Lakers games in the Finals plus some World Cup action here and there (not much to tell you the truth, I watched the US-England game because I was in Vegas and I watched yesterday's game, but since it was at 7am here in the West Coast it actually made me get up early and it was over before 9am, so that doesn't count. Didn't watch any Italy game, and now it seems to have been a good idea….sigh).

Besides, I have not been approved to sit at the exam yet (I finished two accounting classes the first week of June and the California CBA is so slow that it's making me want to send flowers to the USCIS – immigration), so I have no idea when I'll be receiving my NTS….. Thank God there's plenty of prometrics centers here in the Los Angeles area and I have the luxury to be able to take the exam during the week (Saturdays in July are already fully booked).

I was able to go throughj the first seven lectures relatively fast because I either was very familiar with the topic or interested in it. I stopped before F8 and F9 also because I've never done Govt and NFP accounting and I know for sure it won't be interesting. So before overloading my brain, I want to make sure the other stuff sticks well……

i'm not so sure about sending flowers to USCIS, my application's been stuck at their texas service center since early '07! I had to call VA board of acct a few times, once to check on my transcripts, then after they processed my application and said i should receive my payment coupon in 24 hours– well never happened and no it was not a junk mail problem like they said. So VA board of acct sent me the coupon after NASBA failed to do so. I guess you should call CBA and find out what's going on. In general VA was pretty fast, 2.5 weeks from application to payment coupon.

I called them pretty much every other day, including today.

I'm at the point where I have to almost camuflage my voice because I'm afraid to get them so annoyed that they will delay my application on purpose, just kidding about that, I hope.

They received my last transcript on June 14 and they had my file since March, so I don't understand why it's taking so long so add those 10 ACCT credits and approve my application. Well, the only thing I can do is to annoy them over the phone….

On the other hand, I got my green card in 4 months and my US citizenship in 3.5 months, both in NYC which is considered the busiest district office. Hey, now that I think about it, I should really send them flowers….. 🙂

haha i guess NASBA really doen't want us to sit for the cpa before 2011 changes kick in! just keep calling them, i called va board almost every other day also, and yes i think they know me by now lol. We have about 5 testing centers around DC so scheduling is not a problem, but still!!!

You're right about the last two chapters. NFP isn't too terrible, but Government is painful because it is modified accrual method . I did the worse on that on my FAR test, though still comparable.
