AnonymousInactiveyeah mind blown away; I am ready to retake it if need be if not I will be happy to be done with it but then again I would still be mad at the way they tested this section…….I think it mingled into BEC too much
no one ever knows….if you feel you might fail start restudying on next Monday and do not give up; if you end up passing then you can be happy if not you can still find some happiness in knowing that you have started the huge task early and have a leg up on the competition b/c 1) studied already and took the exam 2) you will have already put in 3.5 weeks before you got your 74 or 71 so it will be somewhat of a win win if you have the right attitude about it everything is easier with the right look at things

AnonymousInactiveI cried in the car on the way home. Then drank heavily that night. Ended up passing with an 82 :).

AnonymousInactiveTo the AngryAcct – is this a theory from the exam board or is this just what people on here have come up with. Because I didn't have a feeling one way or the other when I left the exam, just knew that it wasn't as bad as the Becker tests. Same feeling I have had with the other two exams I took and passed. But now i'm really starting to worry that I did fail. I don't want to have that worry if this is just some theory test takers have come up with. I put in over 150 hours of studing over the last 3.5 months, to the point I couldn't study anymore. But what you guys are saying its almost as if they fail you before you even finish the exam, which I don't find to be right.

TampaAccountantParticipantCPAinPA, the exam is generally adaptive. That's what every review course tells you!
So the better you do in a first testlet, the next testlet gets more difficult. However, in the end, everyone who has taken the exam is graded equally. This means that if you had a very easy exam, then you are required to get more correct answers than if you receive a more difficult exam.
I took FAR on Nov. 13th and found all my 3 testlets to be super difficult. One theory is that my testlets were not difficult since each additonal testlet was not more difficult! That's what I thought when I walked out of the exam, but after reading the posts here, I believe the second theory—that the exam was so hard that you have a chance if you answer enough questions correctly, maybe I can still pass by getting 1/2 the MCQs correct……?
But, I would much rather have an easy exam where I would have to get 90% of the MCQs correct to pass!

AnonymousInactiveI had a failing feeling on my FAR exam starting with second testlet. And it made me instantly tired and bored. I think I guessed half of it, didn't bother with sims except for memos – just in case.
I was fully ready to retake it in January until I looked at my grade (for fun – wondering if I got below 60) and learned that I passed. Well, I was very close to failing as you can see…
I don't know, I guess the feeling you have right after exam can trick you.

aazaidi2000ParticipantMy experience with MCQs was very good and I passed this part
Simulations killed me. my grade is 74

BEC Passed, FAR Passed, AUD Passed, REG (Passed), Ethics (Passed), DoneNovember 27, 2009 at 4:23 am #210085
yanks0607Participant@ Anna – all I can say is wow…..so you didn't complete anything in the simulations besides the memos??
AUD - P (4/09), REG - P (5/09), BEC - P (8/09), FAR - P (11/09)

AnonymousInactive:)) Don't say “wow” – it was rather very stupid of me to do so. But yes, memos and research tab only. I completely ignored Jeff's advice about “leave it all on a battle field” and just rushed out of the testing room 46 minutes earlier… I was so tired.
Well, I kind of knew that I studied for FAR much less than for first two exams, so I just went to see what's it's like and was ready to retake in January even before I was there.
Thank God I don't have to…

AnonymousInactiveHere is the link to how the test is graded – in case you wanted to read about psychometric analysis –

TampaAccountantParticipantAwesome link,
Thanks,
Do you think they'll add 2 points to our next exam if we understand their scoring guide? LOL
November 29, 2009 at 3:30 am #210089
MadamJParticipanthow many points are the research tabs worth?
November 29, 2009 at 1:11 pm #210090
AnonymousInactiveThanks for sharing the link, very helpful. It didn't specify, but does the more difficult testlest apply to the sims to? After reading it, it seemed as if it only applied to the MCQ's. Not know there was a difference in testlets, I truely don't know if my MCQ's got harder, but I do know the sims were not difficult. If the sims don't play into the adaptive testing, I will feel much better. If they do, then I'm guessing I didn't pass.

The simulations are not adaptive.

No Life NowParticipantI am taking FAR in the morning. I'm totally burnt out on this process, and I even got mad at myself as I reviewed the material today. It sure seems like the purpose of the exam has shifted from testing your knowledge of accounting to another dynamic. All the questions seem designed to trick you or make you overlook an unimportant little detail in the reading. In practice, you can study a situation and rely upon your research skills and experience to arrive at the correct answer. There is no time limit to force you to answer too quickly – you can stay over normal hours and find the answer. You can use an actual calculator to solve mathematical problems – one that doesn't slow you down and that functions properly. One you're familiar with.
I have donated the past six months and 12 days of my life to passing this exam. It's unreal. My daughter passed her bar exam in less time and with less effort. I understand that this should be difficult, but just test the material and and not our patience! If all my work pays off and I pass this final section, perhaps I'll feel like it should be even harder, but as for right now, I just want it to stop…….The only people who understand are those going through it, so thanks for letting me vent….
REG - 86 (5/18/09)
BEC - 79 (7/06/09)
AUD - 81 (8/24/09)November 30, 2009 at 2:18 pm #210093
AnonymousInactiveNo Life Now,
Good luck today!
