So… I was just wondering if anyone else felt the same way about the highlighting and underlining in the lectures…

I have Becker and at first I underlined and highlighted everything they told me to and made the same notes that they said… yada yada yada. Then it switched to me just highlighting points they made that i DIDN’T understand… and then it switched to I just highlight whatever they talk about that I don’t know plus whatever else seems interesting and unique that maybe I need to remember later, plus now I’m making all my own notes in the margins and whatnot. I still write “memorize” when they say memorize something and I still star the stuff they tell me to, but I just realized today I barely follow their “highlighting” and “underlining” suggestions at all. I think I just got sick of seeing ENTIRE PAGES highlighted!!!!

What do you guys do?? Follow directions? Do your own thing? Don’t highlight??

This are my steps with Becker:

1. First I read the chapter by myself and highlight any concepts or problems that I didn't get on that first read.

2. Then, I watch the Becker lectures and MARK any concepts I'm still struggling with.

3, Do all the MCQs.

I used Bisk, but I'll throw my highlighting opinion out there…

When the instructor said “know this for the exam,” or “important topic” – I used Blue

Topics I felt were important I used Yellow

And if there were exceptions to the rule, or counter examples I used Orange (to call attention to them)

This helped when flipping through the notes to review…If you're highlighting too much and it wont help you, then DONT
