can anyone give me some advice or tips on how to do well on the simulations fpr AUD??

i use becker and found that the simulations weren’t too bad on there but when i took my AUD exam i found that it was unclear to me exactly what they were asking and it was just confusing…

i scored “weaker” in the sims, but “stronger” on the MCQs

so i just really need to get the sims down so i can make sure to pass the next time around!!!

    thanks 🙂

I actually had the same exact problem, stronger on the multiple choice and weaker on the simulations. I've gone through the Becker materials and also used CPAexcel. None of the practice sims were similar to the ones I received on exam day. Any advice would be great!

    REG - 77*, 74, 70, 71, 82
    AUD - 71, 68, 71, 83
    BEC - 75
    FAR - 65, 70, 72, 75

It will help if you have taken FAR first with AUD SIMS because my 3 SIMS were FAR related. You should know the ratios, journal entries and effects on accounts given several independent cases/scenario.

In my first attempt my performance reports shows stronger in MCQs and weaker on SIMS. I had 3 FAR related SIMS on my first attempt as well and it was like 2 tabs each. I did not use the AL on my first attempt but in my 2nd attempt, I was able to use it. I used the AL for 3 SIMS including research and I think I nailed it because I found the answers word for word. Make sure to use the advance search and search within.

I also have free 6 months subscription with AICPA professional library to practice SIMS.

    FAR 04/21/2012 - Passed
    AUD 07/28/2012 - Passed
    BEC 10/20/2012 - Passed
REG 2/28/13 - Horrible exam ever! - Passed
    I'M DONE!!!!!!!!!!!

You can use the authoritative literature to answer the SIMs. I did this on my retake and I was able to find word for word answers in the AL. I think this really helped me. I left my self 1 hour and 50 minutes I spent a good 10 minutes on the each tab researching in the AL and for 2 tabs I found word for word answer, I utilized the search within and kept searching till I found answers. I didn't practice this before but it worked!

    A - 61, 91!!
    B - 78!
    F - 76!!!
    R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!

    Finally done!

This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

I suggest you get your MCQs down pat so you don't need to spend much time on them. Then when you get to the sims you will have plenty of time to lookup the answers (or at least guidance) in the authoritative literature. I never did any practice sims, but when I failed AUD the first time the score sheet said my sims were “stronger”. So i brushed up on my MCQ and nailed it on the retake.

    FAR - 79 - 07/2012
    AUD - 65, 78 - 11/2012
    BEC - 76 - 11/2012
    REG - 78 - 01/2013
    ETH - 98 - 01/2013

    Material: Wiley books

For AUD sims, the best advice is to look them up in AL. Seriously i looked up 3 that were pretty much word for word in AL or at least the answer could be easily found by reading and interpreting what they were saying. Save yourself a bunch of time for the sims at the end and have the skills to look them up. I think it took me 1.5 hours for my sims using AL, but like i said i knew leaving the test center i got 3 of them right. If you use AL and are good with research you are bound to find at least 2 sims.

Also, even though this sounds really basic, you need to really understand the concepts. (This can be said about all the exams) You are going to get sims you cant look up, but if you understand the concepts on what they are asking you definitely can work through them logically. If you do these 2 things it will give you a good shot at least of getting comparable in the sims.

    FAR - 88 (Jul 2012)
    AUD - 85 (Oct 2012)
    BEC - 82 (Nov 2012)
    REG - 92 (Jan 2013) DONE!

    Using Becker Self Study 2012
