HELP! Is 6 days enough time before the exam to study FAR chpts 6-10? Thanks!

    Hello,

I am currently not working, and wondering if 6 full days is enough time to cover the second half of the FAR Becker material (chapters 6 – 10). I am thinking 12 hours a day, a chapter a day, then 1 day for review. I acknowledge that this timeline is not ideal. I appreciate your responses. Thanks.

I certainly hope it is possible, because that is exactly the same boat I am in. I was in similar situations for both BEC and REG, so I am just hoping I can pull off the magic one more time.

I'm in bit of a pickle myself but not to that extent. Just try your best and try to get as much as you can done in the meantime. You never know how things play out. There was some other post a while back where someone studied just a week for FAR and ended up passing. Good luck! Wow @MetsWONin86, your scores are pretty phenomenal. What is your secret?!

Nope. It's not. government and non profit is a big undertaking.

But everyone is a little bit different. if you can internalize all those chapters in 6 days, then you don't have anything to worry about.

there people out there with super minds (Jake barnett, Bowen Zhao etc..) who can memorize textbooks with one pass through. If you're not one of them, i'd say study for 16 hours everyday.

I really have no idea. I always procrastinate and wait until the last minute to study for these tests. I usually get ~80s on the Becker MC's and I only redo the sections where I got less than 75% correct. I rarely do the simulations because I never leave myself enough study time to work through them. I honestly have no idea why I end up doing well on these tests.

It's possible, but you won't be able to do 12 hours a day for 5 days straight. You'll hit a wall (I've tried). However, if you do every second multiple choice problem after watching each subsection in each chapter, you should be able to do it. Don't be afraid to look in the book to find an answer for a problem. Don't spend much time on simulations, and try a couple short progress tests to stay fresh on the earlier chapters.

Wth, I need your brain! lol. I take FAR in a few days and this'll be my first exam ever and I feel pretty underprepared since I haven't gone through everything thoroughly yet. I can't retain everything either since it's just so much material. Hoping I have the same luck you've been having. Good luck!

I wouldn't do it, but I think it's do-able if you stick to your schedule. Also, if you understand Gov/NFP pretty well, there's not much more to it. The two Gov/NFP chapters in Becker were a breeze for me. It all depends on how comfortable you already are with the material.

    A - 80 (2/3/14) first attempt!

honestly, I skipped 9, 10 and 3 and I passed. I knew the other chapters well enough to pass I guess.

I looked at my FAR Becker stats recently, and i only completed 50% of the homework and I did very few Sims. It definitely possible.

And 6 days before FAR i just chilled out and didn't study a thing.

Based on your scores for other sections, I think you have a pretty good shot of passing after just one pass through the material. Gov't accounting is pretty straight-forward. I am starting NFP right now with hopes of passing on 8/30. Good luck!
