I am pulling my hair with Becker….

In the exam sims the correct answer is for example

    New Bulding……….105,000

    Acc. Depreciation….15,000

    Old Building……………………95,000

    Cash……………………………..25,000

If I enter the answer for example like this – which is EXACTLY the same:

    Acc. Depreciation….15,000

    New Bulding ………..105,000

    Cash………………………………25,000

    Old Building…………………….95,000

It tells me that the entry is incorrect!

Is this just an error in the Becker Materials or is this the same on the actual exam as well??

    Thank you for your answer!!

Someone on a previous thread had posted the following response that they received after e-mailing the AICPA a question about the order of journal entries:

“We are following up regarding your inquiry about the general format of journal entries on the CPA Exam.

It doesn't matter what order the Debit/Credit responses are entered in as long as the proper corresponding debits and credits are provided with each response.”

I think Becker probably just doesn't have the capability of being too flexible in this regard. It's something you can just review and see that you were correct.

    FAR - 92 (4/27/12)
    AUD - 96 (7/17/12)
    BEC - 92 (8/30/12)
    REG - 91 (11/12/12)

Or, don't worry at all, and always put them in order from biggest to smallest!

Since Becker is a software, it only looks at yes or no on exact matches. I have had becker sims wrong because I entered calculations in instead of just the number (even though the result was the same). This is why the CPA sims are pre-graded by a computer and then reviewed by an actual person before your final score is received. Order does not matter on the exam, but in real life they could (depending on your boss).
