Help!! Can someone explain to me the Difference between Discrete and Blended ?

    I have been using becker but still very confused.. maybe someone came up with a way that is easier to remember? Thanks!!

    The way I think about it is the primary government has the power to levy taxes. The discrete unit is related to the primary government but is a separate legal entity. The blended unit is not a separate legal entity and thus does not have to be shown separately on the financial statements it just “blends in” with the primary govt. hope that helps

    blended – the component unit provides services ONLY for the primary gov't and the primary gov't PAYS all the debts of the component unit.

    discrete – a school gets tax money but the school can use that money however they want

    and discrete is always presented in government-WIDE financial statements in the far right

    this is what i can pull from my memory
