    Hey all,

I graduated from UCLA in 2009, took some accounting classes in 2010, and now plan on buying the becker course and passing the exam. If I pass the exams with no work experience, can I wait until I get the work experience to get my license, or do my passed exams (even if I pass them all) ever expire?

    Thanks

In IL you don't need work experience to get the license or become certified! Move to IL.. However, this requirement might change in 2012.

    CPA Someday,

Its nice to know that IL does not need any work experience. However, my case is a little different. I only have bachelors degree which means I only have around 120 credit hours. I was just wondering if there are any state from where I can get the liscense from? I know one is california. I was planning to apply there. But they have a requirement that I need to be working under a supervision of a active CPA. I have been in the corporate world for about one and half year and my boss is a CPA but the problem is he does not hold the active liscense? I was just wondering if there is any state I can apply for the liscense with 120 credit hours and with the work experience I have mentioned above. Otherwise, I have to go throught the masters program. I have that in my radar but would be awesome to get the liscense as soon as I pass it so that I can put it in my resume. And how do you say in your previosu post to move to IL?

that was a joke “move to IL” to avoid the job requirement.. I think, the other states that will let you sit for an exam at 120 credits requires the work requirement.

I am from CA and I was a Controller for 6 years with a CEO who is a non-CPA. I also work as a Consultant for 10 years but all my work experience does not qualify me to get a license because I have to be supervised by a CPA with valid license. I have to start from scratch and I am now looking for a new job hopefully in public accounting firm. You are not alone with this problem.

    BEC 2/8/10 - 75 (studied hard & prayed less)
REG 5/15/10 - 88 (studied less but prayed hard)
AUDITING 8/9/10 - 79 (studied hard and prayed hard)
FAR 11/30/10 - 79 (studied hard and prayed hard) Thanks GOD! I'm DONE

I think DE has some pretty lenient education and work requirements. Check through the state boards though, b/c some states don't reciprocate with DE.

    I really can't pass again!
