HI Everyone- I thought I started a new thread, but I guess it was deleted. Anyway….Has anyone passed FAR without finishing the SIMS? I took the exam yesterday and felt that I had a really good chance at passing except when I got to the Sims. I finished the research tab and kinda finished 1 other sim. I pretty much guessed on the rest. Do I have a shot?

I have seen people who have passed and only did ok on the sims. I did great on the sims, however not to hot on the MCQs. As you can see below, I didn't pass, despite my strength being sims. So if your strength is your sims and you fail, i would only assume (Wow, trying to be careful not to assume, so lets try an auditing word-appears) It would appear that if your strength is your MCQs and you do ok on the Sims, then you still have a shot. Also, one of the sims does not count, maybe you got lucky.

Yes, I did… I didn't finish about a third of one sim and left that part blank. I also completely guessed on one sim and by guess I mean that I literally just chose an answer and filled in some random numbers. I was only confident on two sims on my FAR exam and one of them was the research question. Overall, I did terrible on the sims according to my score report and it was the multiple choice that saved me from getting below a 75. It wasn't the fact that the sims were terribly hard, I just didn't have enough time to work through them to feel confident enough. The one I left partially blank, I knew how to do. There was only one (which I guessed on) in which I had absolutely no idea.

I did not do 1 research and 1 simulation. I did partial in another one simulation. I was not sure one of simulation. I passed 77. It was a big surprise.

Yeah you never know. You might be surprised. SIMS are 40% of your overall score, when i passed FARE the sims were 30%, so i dont want to predict anything. But if i have to bet, i would bet that you would score anywhere btw 65 & 75, given the fact that you did really really good on the MCQ's

My experience was very similar to PassCPA2012: couldn't do research, haven't touched one SIM, did partial in another… Passed with 76.

    BEC - 10/12/2011 - 78
    AUD - 11/23/2011 - 84
    FAR - 02/22/2012 - 76 (I'll take it!)
    REG - 08/31/2012

I think you definitely have a shot. I gave up on 3 of my SIMS when i took FAR, because I swore I bombed the MC's. I figured that I'd just start studying for the test again once I got back home from prometric. I guess the CPA gods were with me that day because I somehow ended up with a 79. Try not to sweat it, you never know.

    FAR - 79 (2/25/12)
    AUD - 83 (4/19/12)
    BEC - 80 (5/25/12)
    REG - 82 (8/9/12)

    DONE!! 🙂

You guys have no idea about how much better I feel. If I pass that would be beyond AMAZINGGGGGGGG. I keep checking the score to see if it comes up since in the past I checked a day or two earlier and it was up. This has been the longest week ever!!!!! I wish everyone the best of luck.

I was certain that I failed FAR since I had one sim that was half finished and a long one that I didn't touch at all. Luckily I wound up being wrong. Remember that one of the sims will be a pre-test sim that doesn't count toward your score, so keep telling yourself that there is a good chance one of the sims you didn't complete was the pre-test.

Thanks R. Baker! DId you leave the other sims completely blank as well? I had 7 sims (1 was the research tab). It seems you are only talking about 2, that was probably the old test right?

I took FAR for the first time a few weeks ago. I did not complete two simulations. For one I put down 0's in every available box as they were calculation questions. For the other I just selected random journal entries for the categories that were available. I passed with a 77, so it is possible. As previously mentioned, luck from the CPA gods never hurts. My testlets felt like they went medium, difficult, medium. Hope this helps.
