    Hey all –

I am taking FAR on Saturday… Was wondering if anyone had any tips on prepping for GOV and NFP. These are definitely the areas that I am not as familiar with and not very comfortable with. Have they been heavily tested lately? Thanks in advance for any tips/advice.

I've been wondering the same thing—-and if we get a govt/nfp accting SIM we're basically SOL on getting any type of authoritative literature to help us along, right?

I don't have any tips other than : KNOW IT. I wouldn't get too hung up on on specific journal entries fro NFP… know the basics. Your review course should prepare you fairly well for those sections…if you're still iffy, consider buying the NINJA notes.

I went over GOV and NFP a day before my exam and I'm glad I did it. Know the journal entries as well. Goodluck.

I agree with jenuno – you need to know the material, it can be 20-25% of the exam!

I don't know if it is against the exam disclosure ( just delete my post if I do), but I am getting a lot of GOV and NFP and I have it in SIMS as well. I took FAR on 4/21.

Yes, government and NFP is heavily tested. Spend major time on reading and doing MCQ. Becker has a really good table at the end of the chapter (F8 or F9?), summarizing the whole GRASP SE PAPI mnemonic. Just knowing that table alone will definitely help you get points.

    BEC - 67, 79 - (expires 5/24)
    REG - 74, 72, 77 - Key to Passing: RTFQ
FAR - 77 - Chance favors the prepared mind.
    AUD - 64, (5/14) - FREEDOM!! (i hope)

Do not underestimate Gov/NFP…if you are struggling with it (like I was) just know the basic journal entries for both and the types of funds because just knowing those can get you through the majority of the question and you can make educated guesses on the others.

    BEC - Feb 2012: 80
    AUD - Feb 2012: 84
    FAR - Apr 2012: 78
    REG - May 2012: 90

    Thanks Becker!

You cannot afford to skim over or skip altogether NFP/Gov, period.
