Hello,

I’m taking FAR next Sunday. I’ve done a decent amount of studying and feel prepared for mostly everything except for governmental and non-profit. On any of my Becker practice exams I usually get anywhere from 60 to 70 percent correct on these chapters. Most of that is probably luck. I find that Becker’s chapters for these topics is not as helpful as the others. Does anyone think its worth it to buy Jeff’s notes for Gov’t and Non-Profit ?

Jeff's notes have about 5-6 pages on Government NFP accounting that are definitely good for being refreshers and understanding some of the key concepts with this section. If you are stuck I'd recommend purchasing them because they are pretty good (and if you aren't satisfied im pretty sure he'll refund). However, with this said, I haven't taken FAR yet so I am unsure as to what types of things will be tested on the Govt NFP sections. I may be a bit biased because I took a government NFP class last year in college, but if you are still having trouble with that section I'd recommend watching the lecture again and taking the homework questions slowly. It does take a little bit of time to understand but once you have it you'll feel good.

Thanks for the input. I'll probably buy them if I don't feel more comfortable by Wednesday. I don't want Governmental or NFP causing a failure.

When you are asking about Jeff's notes on his own forum are you expecting honest response? It's like asking the producer how good his goods are. His notes maybe good but I was unhappy because I could not print them. I like to print and highlight. Too much protection… It was not convenient. It caused more trouble than help… I wouln't buy them. It will not make you learn gov acctg.

@farbehind – I think somebody asked for a printable version not sure what happened with it but, I would definitely ask jeff to see if you could get one.

I thought they were good mainly because I didn't have the patience or time at the end of my studying to write my own notes out before exams… but that's just my 2 cents… also I only used them for audit and regulation, didn't learn of this site in time for the other two exams…
