tough_kittyMemberPretty much everything that is covered in your study materials?? They can test you on anything!
And it's not as scary as it looks….you just need to understand the difference between appropriation and encumberance or whatether that word was….and know the journal entries, and all the fund types, etc. Like I said, everything 😉

kevincoMemberThat's a tough question,, I'm not sure that there is an area one needs to concentrate on. For me I was lucky that the small firm I work in deals with mostly governments and nonprofits. I would try and cover all of the material since colleges do not do a good job in preparing students for governmental accounting (I only had half a class in governmental) Try and get the general concepts and then work the problems. A good chunk of the exam comes from this area.

AnonymousInactiveConquer that fear and do whatever it takes to learn governmental and NFP… They total at least 20% of your exam score. Both of these sections are extremely important, We can't disclose what is on the exam but trust me… Put some time into governmental and NFP! Jump right in. Good luck on test day.

MintsRGoodParticipant@OP I missed closing out my exam journey by ONE point 2 weeks ago. I'll give you 3 guesses what my ONLY weak topic was per my score report…do not cut corners on GOV!!!!! How long does it take to review all of it? As long as it takes for you understand the terminology, journal entries, and financial statements well enough to consistently score in the 80's on MCQ drills. Do not move on until you do so. Seriously, this topic is not one to cut corners on!!!
REG: 75 DONE 🙂

Whopper WarriorMemberI would know the differences between Accrual and Modified Accrual. I would then know what government funds use which; such as capital projects (modified accrual); enterprise fund (accrual), ect. ect. This should cover alot of governmental accounting because once you get the fundamental bones you should be able to cross out the wrong answers and really hone in on what is right.
For Non-Profits, that section is a doosey because of all its weird revenue rules and this balance vs that balance. I dont have a good point to say this is a fundamental foundation as it is a bunch of mini gtochas that only mc can hammer home.
