So…. I just found out I got 74 on reg and keep refreshing the nasba website to make sure that’s really the score.. And it is! Is there any possibility to ask the CPA exam review team to go over my test again….probably not!!! So I’m stuck with a 74!

When you get your score report, let us know where you're weaker and we can help you from there…

I got a 74 on REG last year. Believe me, I know how painful it is. I honestly thought I reached a dead end, but was able to increase my score. You guys can do it too. Just don't lose hope. Keep at it.

Welcome to Club 74! I am the Founder and President.

74,74 on REG cost me my FAR credit.

I was beyond PISSED. I sulked for a few days … then got MAD.

Passed them both on next try.

    You'll do the same!

Just entered the 74 club! But it's different for me – now I can taste it. Now I KNOW I can do it. FAR is going to get a beat down in July! Seriously – I am actually looking forward to studying! This time, I'M going to be doing the evil witch cackle during the exam! (OK now out loud, but in my head I'll be doing the evil witch cackle!).

    REG - 80 (Becker only)
    BEC - 76 (Becker only)
    AUD - 71, 76 (Becker only)
FAR - 65, 74, 81! (Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Ninja notes & Audio)

Thanks @cpaman for being positive. Really appreciating the kind words. Not only am I disappointed because a I worked hard, but now I have to tell my family and coworkers that I failed. again. That part is tearing me apart, its just too much.

I want to pass one section. Just one for now.

@bluegirl, I can totally empathize with you. I hate having to tell people I failed. But I keep thinking of what Jeff said in one of his posts – no one ever talks about when they fail. All you hear about is that guy or girl that passed on the first try.

If a co-worker asks me if I heard anything or if I passed, I just respond, “Nope, but it's OK. Onward and upward.” And then I just walk away, or continue the work I'm doing at my desk. Don't be too hard on yourself about failing. Failure is a part of success.

The fact that you keep moving forward and trying to pass says a lot about you. People give this one shot and then give up because they don't want to fail! We are all going to become CPAs. The question is just, when??

Thanks @mrs300. It seems like only candidates “get it.” I have a lot of pressure at the office. It is a small office and I am the only non-CPA. I am also the only one under 50. So everyone took the exam the old way, they haven't had a candidate in the office in a very long time. I may be projecting (because it's never been said), but I feel like my job is riding on this.

One pass will do a lot for my confidence.

I don't plan on giving up, but it doesn't feel like “the game has started” until you get a pass. No one wants to be a benchwarmer, it feels like all the studying and commitment isn't worth it.

mrs 300, I got 2 74's on FAR, what helped me is going a lot of MC questions and understanding my wrong anserers then I finnaly passed with a 77, you will pass the very next time

bluegirl, I learned not to tell family, friends or coworkers when I am taking the test so I do not have to tell them when I failed and I have failed many times, now I just wait until I pass all parts and tell everyone then

All of the studying and commitment will be worth it.

Unless you are considering changing careers altogether, it's worth it. I could kick myself for not plugging away 8 years ago with the determination and the dedication that I have now. I graduated 8 years ago. I took the test right out of college, and failed. I came up short – high 60s and I think I got a 72 on 1 section.

Then I put it on the back burner, had my son and then sat again in '08. Failed. This time, a little closer. 2 scores in the 70s. I was upset, embarrassed and just said forget it, became an EA and thought that could hold the senior people off in my firm for a while before they started really pressuring me. (I'm in tax).

But here I am again. Now I HAVE to do it. Funny thing is, I'm not even sure that accounting is right for me anymore. But I'm going to become a CPA. Even if I win the lottery TOMORROW, I will become a CPA. This is a journey and it's one that requires patience. You are going to fall on your face 100 times. You'll cry, you'll get angry and you'll want to punch someone. You'll alienate people and you'll be pissed at the world. You'll be pissed when it's 70 degrees outside because your ass has to study while the rest of the world goes on bike rides and plays football or chills outside with a beer.

In 10 years from now, if you don't pass, you WILL regret it. If you give up, you WILL regret it. Unless you leave everything on the table and truly give it your all, you will hate yourself for not trying. And from your “failing” scores, it looks like you are giving it a shot and not screwing around.

It sucks to fail. I know it does. It sucks to really try for something and to give a lot of effort and STILL come up short (I see you just became a member of the 74 club).

Think of it this way, if it takes you 2-3 years, will it really be that big of a deal? Nope. 2-3 years out of a 30-40 year career is nothing. And I really hope that your boss(es) give you some leverage to at least take a year to pass this thing. You have time. Just remember – patience.
