All CPA candidates are in the same boat. Your life is on hold until you pass all four parts of these exams in the 18 month window. There will be no vacations this summer, no trips to relatives, etc. Everyone that you know will just shake their head.

You may have to retake a section. Retaking an exam should not deter you. These exams are all about endurance, not intelligence. I promised my wife a first class vacation after these exams, even if I had to borrow the money!

There are no failures in this CPA game. There are only people who quit. Do not be one of them. No one will care how many times you take these exams. All they will care about is if you are a CPA.

The purpose of the CPA exams is to keep you from becoming a CPA. That is a fact of life. Those 3 initials, CPA, do not come cheaply. There is a shortage of CPAs and there will always be a shortage of CPAs. The pass rate of the CPA exams is only one half the pass rate of the Bar exam.

Take an exam and do not look back. Start studying for the next exam. That was my plan.

By the way, a 77 and 76 just means that you were smart enough not to study too much. It does not mean that you “barely passed.” Perfection is the enemy of good enough. If you made a 75 on all four exams, would that be good enough?

It helps to be a Christian. Get close to God! Children trust their parents and children do not worry. God calls us to trust Him. Worry and fear about these exams are useless. If we worry about these exams, we are not close to God. Peace and joy only come from God. Have you ever noticed the joy in a toddler? Confusion and discouragement do not come from God.

When I made a 68 on FAR, my first exam, I did not get upset, or complain. I admitted the mistakes that I made in my study methodology (I was using out-of-date books). I developed a better study process and I easily passed on my second attempt.

Do not become Miss Inflexibility. Inflexibility is the kiss of death. You cannot change if pride does not allow you to admit your errors. Failure is just a learning experience. Change your study materials and the way you prepare for these exams.

You will become a CPA, IF you never give up! Do not substitute emotionalism for reason. Come up with a better study process that works for you, and then share it with everyone on this forum.

I passed all of my exams within the eighteenth month window in July. It all seems like a distant memory now. I hate to admit it, but I enjoyed the study process. I am one of the few people who would be willing to retake the CPA exams.

The CPA exams are the best game in town. The whole thrust of the AICPA is to discouraged you and to get you to quit. 17% to 25% of the CPA candidates do just that, quit. Once you decide that you will pass these CPA exams, no matter how long it takes, or how much it costs, 50% of the battle is won.

Hang in there! No one can stop you from becoming a CPA, except you. Additionally, do not start this CPA process unless you willing to give up your fomer life. There is no free lunch. College was a peice of cake compared to these exams.

I was looking for motivating posts that would help me in my quest to passing the CPA exam, specifically posts that helped candidates with their cpa journey by having faith in God and Jesus. I love this. I am a strong believer in the power of prayer. I really want to become a cpa. However, I sometimes question whether it has become too important because I find myself reading, studying, and thinking about the exam and Becker more than God and Jesus.

For those who believe in God and Jesus and believe in the power of prayers, if you don't mind, I have a prayer request: Please pray that my spiritual desire takes precedence over the exam and, if God is willing, He gives me the strength and wisdom to pass the cpa exam.

    Thank you so much.

This thread is definitely out there. Reminds me of those crazy cults that always end with cyanide-laced kool-aid.

I know it may be weird to some of you but I have read a lot of posts from candidates who pass giving credit to God and Jesus. So their are a lot of believers and people with faith. My post was intended for this group. You are all entitle to your opinions. I respect that. I did expect to see some not so supportive comments but I wasn't going to keep from posting because of it. Again, there are a lot of cpa candidates who have God and Jesus in their hearts and have credited the divine for their success.

I'm not some weird person. I'm a mother with four children who wants to make sure I am doing the right thing in the eyes of God. Don't let the name fool you. Maverick is my youngest son.

This (original) post is great! Yes, we have to do the work, study, actually learn the material – God is not going to magically download the info we need into our brains in order to pass the test. But, He gives me strength to get through each day, wisdom to know right from wrong, encouragement when I'm feeling down, comfort when I'm anxious, etc… I will definitely be praying through this process and I know that my prayer warrior friends in my ladies' Bible study will be praying right along with me.

Thanks for all the encouragement from the OP and my other fellow believers!

kmwgrace, good luck on passing the cpa exam. I'm sure you will do well. I, too, found this site extremely encouraging. Everyone who have and continues to share his/her experiences help me deal with some of the disappointing moments (failing BEC with a 72) and challenges I have encountered.

Thanks to everyone, much appreciation. 🙂

misanthrope87: I'm with you about the thread being weird.

I refuse to give credit to an imaginary being for my hard work. My bulldog was right next to me during the hundreds of hours of study and her silent support was comforting.

This site is so crazy … what are the chances that all of these bytes randomly formed into a language called PHP and uploaded to a SQL database, bought a domain and then pointed it at this IP address – and it's all about the CPA Exam.

    Totally Random!!!

Jeff, it can be…interesting – like single candidates vs. married/with family candidates. (No offense to anyone.) It can be very interesting and entertaining. Overall, we are all cpa candidates who seek some support and comfort from one another, thanks to you.

Cincycpa2b, good luck and great scores. I, also, study for hours on these exams but do find myself blessed and very thankful for it. Anyway, I used to have two English Bulldogs. They are very lovable dogs (but high maintenance) and they are so cute. Just saying…maybe I still miss them.

@Maverick, I found @75 CPA's post very motivating. I definetly read it when I needed to because things are getting really crazy for me during my study process!! Lol. As for all of the non-sense going on in the other posts, we just have to ignore them. Everyone will believe what they want to believe and think what they want. We know who and what is behind everything that we all do in this life and that's all that matters. Thank you for replying to this and getting it out there for me to read. I feel better all over again about this test!!
