Freaking out a little…

Up until this point, I’ve been really motivated with this exam. Passed BEC and AUD and now I am farther than I’ve ever been before (half way to CPA)! But I’m finding FAR overwhelming, as most people do. I am losing motivation every day and wondering if I can do this. I’m struggling with things like bonds and cash flows that don’t seem like they should be this hard to understand. I am feeling more and more behind every single day and starting to feel like I might not pass when I take FAR on July 8. I’ve been taking this exam since 2009 and I’m so tired of it. Does anyone have any advice? Could really use a pick-me-up right now…

    BEC - 68, 76
    AUD - 90, 91
    FAR - 63, 83
    REG - 55, 79

    FINALLY DONE!

Keep going. Up until my last exam, I had doubts I can do it. But it’s one step at a time and just focus of what’s infront of you. Do the best you can and go from there. I started this journey not thinking I’d finish. I just started it with the mentalitly, “ I do my best in everything I do, if I don’t pass I’ll try again and then move on to the next section” and that’s what I did. Move forward and do the best. It is overwhelming but stay focus on what’s infront of you

    FAR - 76
    AUD - 74,84 🙂
    REG - 76
    BEC - 72, 80

If you can pass AUD with a 91 (which is freakin' AWESOME, btw), you can pass FAR with a 75+. Don't give up! Break it down into small sections and push through. Sometimes, when I sit down to study after a long day at work and my brain is telling me I can't do it…instead of taking on a hard topic that I may have scheduled, I go back to one or two smaller and more basic topics….or I focus on one tiny piece of a hard topic. My theory is that if I learn something new that I will retain…regardless of how larger or small…it is one step closer to that PASS! Is moving your test date later into the test window an option?

I KNOW you can do this! Good luck!

Thanks guys! I'm feeling better already. Sometimes it really just helps to know you're not alone. Gotta keep chugging along!

    FAR - 63, 83
    REG - 55, 79

I thought Bonds and CF were the harder topics in FAR as well. I too found myself slipping behind due to trying to understand them as well. I finally had to move on and come back to it later… sometimes a week or so later. It usually made better sense then. Maybe you are trying too hard on those topics, creating a “mental block”?

Having said that, you appear to be doing great!! Keep it up!

    AUD - Done
    BEC - Done
    FAR - Done
    REG - Oct.

I am also studying FAR now, and I feel the same as you do. The topics are really hard, especially consolidation. I keep losing confident day by day when I study. I am totally lost in there now.

I think we have all been there at some point – especially with FAR. I felt overwhelmed during every part of studying and taking that exam! To mange that I tried to focus on the topic at hand. I have myself some time to go back and refresh my memory on everything during my final review. Flash cards for each section/topic were also VERY helpful.

Also remember that they just can't test you on every single topic and nuance. Of course you won't know which ones until exam day, but at least you won't have to get ur brain to remember everything all at once!

Good luck! You can do it!

    BEC: 79 - April 2011
    FAR: 78 - May 2011
    AUD: 81 - May 2012
    REG: 79 - October 2012
    Ethics: Passed - March 2013
    I am finally DONE!
