I’m sure everyone else has this problem too- As I move forward in my study material, I keep worrying that I’m forgetting what I’ve learned in the earlier chapters.Especially with the sections that have a lot of material like REG and FAR. What are your strategies for making sure you don’t forget info as you study? I have been doing pop quizzes each morning that cover all the sections I’ve done so far but I’m just beginning to memorize the answers now.

Wow- looks like we're in the same boat with our scores. This will be my fourth time taking FAR and I feel the same way. By the time you get to the end the beginning chapters just fade from my memory. What worked for me for REG is that I would do a few questions from each past section with any new section I started doing MCQs for. Sounds insane, but defintely worked.

I think this is where flash cards and ninja audio comes into play because as you read and listen you will be surprised at how much you have really retained. Retained not memorize.

    It begins with a 75

Well, as I go through my materials, I make a mental note of areas I know I need to work on to remember (rules for asset exchanges, treatment of bonds and equities, etc). I then try and review those areas at the begin of my study sessions or even think about when I'm doing some menial task during the day where I don't need to think.

It doesn't hurt to thumb through the material you already covered and see how much you remember. The way I look at it, if it's something I completely understand how to do, but just don't remember a specific formula, I don't worry about it. Those are things I plan on memorizing the last 2 or 3 weeks before the exam.

MustPass1988 – you have passed 3 sections…yet you are asking questions a novice like me would/should ask ๐Ÿ™‚

You should be telling us what to do. Good luck on 04/13. You will be CPA very soon!!!

One thing – I don't think it's good to cram towards the end. If you haven't “learned” it, cramming won't help…correct?

Also, I went through CPAExcel twice, and did the full length exams with answers displayed. That helped me study all sections together in a comprehensive manner. I remembered a lot more material that way.

Haha welllllll FAR just happens to be my enemy ๐Ÿ™‚ Even the REG material came more easily to me than the stuff in FAR. It's like everything in this chapter I have to really work at to understand. Thanks everyone for the advice! I have already purchased the Wiley focus notes & test bank app so I might as well add the Ninja Audio to that.

@Getting a CPA: Cramming might help. God knows I crammed for BEC and still passed. Of course, I had already learned all that crap in school, so it really was review. I definitely can't cram for FARโ€”can barely even focus!

    CPA exam: Done!

    Thank You, Lord.

@MustPass1988: FAR is turning out to be my enemy too. I have my Masters in Acctg and the journal entries still kill me in the simulations. I work in Audit so they're not my day to day focus. I got the Wiley questions on my Ipad, doing the FAR Becker course all over again and bought the Becker Final Review for FAR. I feel like I have to pass…my first exam expires in September ๐Ÿ™ I feel hopeless.

@memmy29 you'll pass! If you're doing all of those things, and have taken it already & at least have some of the knowledge already, you'll be fine. Maybe try a different approach with the way you take the test- I think the CPA exam tries to trick you a lot and if you don't read the question all the way through, you can easily answer it wrong. You're really close to 75! ๐Ÿ™‚

MustPass – I've got the same problem.

I've got tons of typed notes (+20 page of gov. that I just accidentaly deleted, thankfully I already printed one copy) that will help. I also take handwritten notes on JEs and some other stuff that can't really be typed up. My plan is to re-read chapters, my notes, and redo all mcqs + some wiley mcqs and hope/pray it will stick ๐Ÿ™‚

    R - 74;88
    A - 84
    B - 74;89
    F - no study = 67; May 15 = 87 & done
