[Maverick]

Sometimes when you fail you pass the most important test; sometimes when you don’t get what you want you get what you need. I want to share this with you.

Maverick: “God/Jesus, I want to be a CPA. If my application is accepted then You are giving me your approval to do this.”

God/Jesus: “You have my approval. I will speed up this process so you will get the information you need to proceed.”

Maverick: “Wow! Lord, that was fast. I guess this means you approve.”

(Come November 2011 FAR Test)

Maverick: “Dear God, please let me pass FAR.”

God/Jesus: “Here is your blessing. You pass!”

Maverick: “Thank you, thank you, thank you…I love you so much.”

( Passing FAR made me prideful, too proud of myself. )

God/Jesus: “Hmmmmmm!” (God grinning). “I don’t like this.”

(BEC Test)

Maverick: “God/Lord, please let me pass BEC. “

God/Jesus: “Hmmmmm! I will humble my child. If I let her pass this one her pride will get in the way and will lose sight of me…72 should do it.”

Maverick: “I don’t get it, Lord. Did you change your mind? What do you want me to do? Please open my eyes.”

(After a couple days.)

Maverick: “Thank you for humbling me. Thank you for letting me see.”

God/Jesus: “Hmmmmmm! (God smiling.) “That’s my child.”

(2nd attempt at BEC)

God/Jesus: “You have learned your lesson. You pass!”

Maverick: “Thank you, thank you, thank you. I love you so much”

(Prayer: “Lord, please draw me closer to you. I don’t want anything to matter but You and God. I don’t want the CPA goal to be a God. I just want my heart, mind, and soul yours. I want only You and God to matter.)

God/Jesus: “I will answer your prayer, my dear beautiful, most loyal child.” ( That’s how I like to think God put it. ) “I will give you another 72…hehe! ( God has a wonderful sense of humor.)

Maverick: (After seeing her REG score today): “What! Now I am really confused, Lord. Did you change your mind? A 72 again!”

(Prayer: Lord, please keep me from making the CPA goal a God. I just want You and Jesus to matter. If it is your will for me to become a CPA then let your will be done; if not, then I will still be thankful for all your blessings and will be fine, happy…But you definitely have a great sense of humor.)

( 5 minutes later)

(Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for what you have done for me. Thank you for my happiness, joy, and blessings. Thank you for answering my prayer. I want only You and God to matter. Please help me do your will. )

God/Jesus: “That’s my child.” (God with a big smile.)

THANK YOU GOD AND JESUS, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!

Damn, this may sound harsh, but Maverick sounds batshit crazy. I'm not anti-religion (quite the opposite), but having repeated discussions with God about the CPA Exam? Come on. It's just a test. I'm sure God has better things to do than give you a 72 just to teach you a lesson. Anyway, good luck with your last two tests. Sorry if I offended you. But my James Harden beard has no filter.

Why shouldn't a believer pray to God about the CPA exam? I admit I read the OP's convos and they may come off as weird at first but realistically they aren't that weird. I pray to God all the time even about even the little things. However, believers need to be careful. I pray daily for help with my work, my life, my goals, my family, the world, etc… I don't do it because I want something. I do it because I wish to follow the Lord and I accept wherever he leads me. The CPA exam was no different. I prayed to God to ask him to help me study hard and do my best that I may follow the paths he has laid out for me to eventually grow in love with him and his creation. St. Therese of Lisieux believed holiness could be achieved in ordinary life doing ordinary things like cooking, cleaning, working outside ect. Her point was to say everything we do should be with God in mind. Whether I'm brushing my teeth, taking the CPA exam, working, or volunteering, it should all be done with love for God and his creation.

I find it interesting God doesn't save the lives of tens of thousands of starving children who die of malnutrition in developing parts of the world, but has the time and energy to intervene most graciously in a person's standardized test. He certainly works in mysterious ways. I wonder if that's the last thought those kids have as they take their last breath. I wonder if that convinces them life was worth living.

Things don't always work out the way we think they should or hope they would. God's ways are higher than ours. God doesn't promise all blessings and no disappointment. But He does promise to be there with us and teach us and help build our character along the way. And we do our part by working hard and honoring Him in our work.

I second that Momto5! This was exactly what I needed to hear after getting my second straight 72 on a test yesterday. Sometimes it's hard to remember, but it's all part of God's plan for me!

We will conquer this test sooner or later!!!!! Hopefully sooner rather than later 🙂

I used to pray to God before every test I took – I have taken plenty as I have never developed a good study plan or used a review course, areas I have recently changed. I did manage to pass one part and I found this to be true – the more I studied, the more God seemed to listen, interesting isn't it?
