I just got home from FAR, the MCQ seemed very easy. They weren’t “wordy”. I felt I had more than enough time left over. Both of my sims did not have a lot of tabs.. they seemed very short compared to other people’s story. Did I just do so bad on the MCQ, that they didn’t get harder? Then did I do so bad on the MCQ’s that my sims were very short???

Any ideas? I feel so nautious.. beause I didn’t feel it was hard.. but I don’t know why it wasn’t harder.. it should have been horrible for me.. I’m not THAT good in accounting.. I promise!

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I cruised through the first testlet in 20 minutes and freaked out when I got to the second testlet and it didn't seem harder. I was seriously like, just let me go home if I butchered that first testlet instead of subjecting me to another 2 hours of this. I didn't feel like I had any horrible calculations or really that many calculations at all. I found the sims a bit tough but the written communications weren't all that bad. I called my dad right after the exam and told him I was sure I failed because it all felt too easy. In retrospect, I just think I was well prepared and because I am a generally anxious worrying type of person there was probably no way the exam could match up to my excessive expectations of its difficulty. I just think some people get exams that have questions they happen to be comfortable with, making it feel a bit easier even if they are difficult questions, and others get a bit unlucky and get questions over topics they are uncomfortable with which makes them feel ridiculously difficult.

In short, I wouldn't worry about testlet difficulty because there is no real way to gauge it. Some people say their exam was off-the-charts difficult and I know of plenty others, like us, that felt like it was a bit too easy. Don't just assumed you failed though because there are people that pass and fail in both camps.

Thanks for responding.. I've been anxiously waiting to hear from someone!! These exams don't ever make any sense.. I've been reading other blogs, majority of them say say “Gov't and NFP are heavily tested”…. I don't have this thought! 🙁 so very very weird! Sometimes I wonder the statements that mention “heavily tested” are because that was their one weak point so they remember getting more than 1 question on it. I'd love to say what my test was “heavily tested” on. I had one simulation that was on one topic! The entire simulation was on one topic! This “one topic” was NOT my strongest and it was barely mentioned in the Becker book.. Like I said so very very weird!

    cpa someday,

based on what everybody says here and based on my own experience, you will likely pass.

My exam was hard and the questions were so wordy and long and I failed. I don't get it. Hard might be subjective, but wordy and long is not subjective. And I am sure they were wordy and long. I didn't know what to think at the time since I thought the questions are hard, I am guessing, why are the testlets not getting any easier?

I would love to know what that topic you were talking about is.

It is all weird, I don't think we should try to make much sense of it. You have a good chance of passing, so relax.

CPA Someday: I had the exact same experience on my FAR exam. The questions seemed much simpler than my study course questions were, and never seemed to get harder throughout the exam. I was also freaked out at how “easy” it seemed. I passed and I'm sure you did too!

Well, I passed FAR, but I'll give my opinion anyway:

The test was not difficult at all. To me, it was a joke compared to Becker's questions. It seemed much easier to me. I did not feel like I was getting tricked like I often feel in the practice questions I studied. Maybe it really was easy or maybe I was just well-prepared. But nevertheless, I felt that the MC questions were a breeze.

The simulations were brutal, as they all seem to be. I'd be surprised if I got much of them right.

I passed with a 95, so you have a great shot as passing. The worst thing you could do is fret over your score. It's over and done with and no amount of worrying or trying to figure things out from your test at this point will change anything.
