Did you understand well all the concepts and did good on the homeworks after viewing the videos the 1st time? Or was it during the reviewing process after finishing all the videos when you actually started to understand and answer correctly most of the questions without having to look at the notes?

I started to study Oct.4 and have 6 modules to go, and plan to take the FAR exam on Jan. 4, 2012. At my current rate I am supposed to be done watching all the videos and doing all the assigned problems once by Nov. 10, and after that all I plan to do is to review, review, review. Am i on the right track?

    Thank you for your comments

If you'll be done with the videos by the 10th, I would consider sitting for it at the end of November. Sure it costs $200, but that would be the best review you can get. I wouldn't be at all suprised if you passed it.

Is this your first exam? If it is, and you can afford it…I strongly suggest you sit for it early. You'll learn A LOT about what to expect in the event you don't pass.

Btw, I just finished 9D and I think that I will still be prepared by the end of November…granted I have 40+ hours of work every week in front of me.

Now that I'm done with Mod 9, I plan to go back through it, do the test bank for the next couple of days for only Mod 9 to get the concepts down before I move on.

Cindy talks way too fast in hyperdrive for me to absorb more than half of what she is saying. I look first to see what Yaeger instructors cover by watching the videos, then I know what areas to concentrate my review on and do the mcq's during my review.

    Hope this helps.

@ Macc Grad – Thank you for your response. I do feel the same way about Cindy sometimes going too fast. I have to stop the video and normally it takes me 2hrs + to see and take notes from a single video. This is my first exam, and I have the extra $200 laying around. If by the end of November I feel ready, I will follow your suggestion and sit for the FAR exam. I was starting to freak out b/c of the amount of material covered, and feeling that I have been going too fast to learn the formulas and required material. I will take the next couple of days to review the material that I have covered already and repeat all the end of chapter mcq's and work on the test banks to make sure I know it and it is sinking in. Then I will start going through the rest of the modules.

Thank you, thank you for your response. I just needed some confirmation from someone using Yeager FAR what their approach is towards their study technique and how they are doing. I know that everybody's studying technique is different, but from what I have read in the forums there are two techniques: #1View all the videos, take notes, and then work all the problems for all the modules. #2 View the videos, take notes, and work the end of chapter problems once you are done with the modules. I think from now on I am going to follow more your aproach and by the end of each module take more time to practice and learn the material.

Thank you again for your response, my stress level has gone down.

P.S. Did you also use Yeager for the 2 parts you already passed.

I happen to use Jeff's approach of watching all the lectures first, take notes and then do all the MCQs. I have tried studying both ways and I find this the most effective. I found when studying for REG I gave myself 8 weeks to study and I was in a foll out sprint towards the end. I got bogged down watching a lecture and then working the questions because I wouldn't move on until I was doing well on the MCQs. Then by the time I finished doing it that way I barely had time for a review and forgot what I did week 1 on studying. This is just my opinion and everyone is different. I am also in more of a time crunch to get FAR done by 11/28 or I will lose my audit credit. Here is to speed talker Cindy helping us pass 🙂 good luck!

I took Jeff's advice and watched all the videos first while taking notes. Then I crunched out MCQs until I was getting in the 70%+ range. I sucked at first, but the more I practiced the better I got.

Thank God I found this thread. I'm using Yaegar for FAR and feeling totally lost. I followed Jeff's advice as I have had for the other sections, but I'm feeling extremely lost doing the questions. I'm scheduled to sit 11/21, so i still have a couple weeks to review. I'm happy to know others felt more comfortable after going through the questions a couple times because the lectures did nothing for me for this section. I've been scoring between 40-60% on the questions first time through. Here's hoping this is my final exam! Good luck to all.

For those that have the extra time after working through all the Wiley questions multiple times, I would recommend gleim test bank because those questions in there are hard and will be a good supplement for Wiley and yaeger.

I'm also doing Yeager and my study style is evolving. I now watch the video and mostly just listen as hard as I can to follow. Then for that section like 9a I read the Wiley text and take loose notes. Then I rewatch the video again and take notes as needed. Then the mc's and sims.

I have more time than most and decided after the inventory section to rewatch the first three dvds to make sure I had the concepts strong enough and found that for the most part I did. I also made notes of my weak areas and don't feel I will need to rewatch any of those previous dvds agan. Today I will move on to fixes assets. I plan to continue reviewing periodically every few dvds.

Influenced by this group I bought the Gleim test bank and the questions are way harder, with material not covered by Yeager on them so I try to do all those new ones also. I will probably buy the wiley online test bank once done with all the modules and after exhausting gleim to see how I do on new material. A wiley test dvd came with the book but I find it difficult to use unless I've done all the modules first. In Gleim you can control to some extant what questions you are tested on.

I'm not sure how it works for others to only watch dvds and then do mc's at the end of all the dvd's? They say it works, I will consider it for later… It sounds like you made quick progress and perhaps the material was fresh for you to start with. Good luck!

Plus I rewrite constantly, always taking notes. The first time through the material or dvd it's like, “What, wait, whoa”. The second time it's like “wait, oh yeah, ok” and the third time it's “yeah, yeah, that's right, yeah”

I am taking FAR in 4 weeks and have been using Yaeger. Because there is so much info to cover in FAR, I purchased the CRAM DVD and have been using it to help me study. At first I watched all the lectures from the HomeStudy and took detailed notes. Next I watched Section 9.A. on the CRAM and then did the suggested problems in the book, then watched 9.B. on the CRAM and did the questions and so forth. This helped refresh my memory of what was covered in that module without having to watch the longer HomeStudy lecture. Another thing I liked about the CRAM is Phil does more of the lectures than Cindy does (or they are done jointly). Cindy is very good at explaining things, but she can get too detailed. Phil gets straight to the point. Some of the ways Cindy explained things were easier for me to understand and some of the ways Phil explained them were easier for me to understand. They complement each other very well, and I feel have a very solid understanding of the topics.

    @Alfrealphi – BEC (2010 Becker)

    REG (Yaeger w/ Yaeager Cram).

AUD (Yaeger) <—-Favorite instructor, Gary Bulmash

    FAR (Yaeger)

I like what apbandj mentioned about the Cram, I think I;m going to order that for the same reason it helps you. Watch the videos first, organize my notes, do the assigned problems, then watch the Cram before tackling the test bank. Should help me having different instructrors going over the same thing in the same format. November is on hold for me 🙁

O yea apbandj that is a really good idea. I have the cram as well as the homestudy so maybe I will do it the same way! Thanks!

After doing a Gleim test bank section for inventory I find that the Wiley book, and the Yeager videos don't go over the cost – retail inventory method and I had to print the Gleim mc's and write the answer down to figure out about 8-9 questions dealing with this. I looked over my intermediate book and they do it different than the question seems to want, so am relearning it differently.

confusing with the different markups and markdowns… and then to add in the FIFO basis lower of cost or market, and then the dollar value LIFO retain inventory method – ACK!
