Flexibility–friend or foe?

Although it’s a little late to change things up with my FAR exam so close, it seems to me that moving around Becker’s study plan a bit is helping me to perform better overall. For example, Becker recommends you do the progress test on Saturday for F1 – F9 which is BEFORE having tackled the sims and supplemental questions for F9. To me, this didn’t make much sense, since I would be without the opportunity to have fully experienced F9.

Obviously, I’m moving my progress test to tomorrow. Is it a good idea in general to have a very flexible study schedule or is that just an open door for dangerous procrastination for future sections?

I am not very familiar with Becker, but I think no matter what study materials you are using, flexibility is up to you. I don't like to be too flexible in my studies because I tend to use it as an excuse to slack off (“I can study an extra hour or two on Saturday to make up for missing today”). I end up getting behind and start to feel overwhelmed. Some people can take a day off for a break, whereas I have a hard time regaining my study momentum if I take even one day off. It's all up to how you are.

I feel like as long as you are keeping up with the schedule, even if it's out of order, it's probably going to be okay. Just be careful.

Jimbo—do what works best for you. I have used Becker all along and never stick to their plan, I tend to customize my schedule. For example I find that practicing multiple choice questions help me out the most, followed by review of the notes, flashcards, and then Sims/lectures are basically useless for me. My last 3 exams I didnt even watch the lectures, I rarely touch the sims and the flashcards might get hit once or twice only because they are convenient. I also tend to only go over the “homework” once, and then after that I will typically only use the “progress test” function as its a great way to practice multiple choice questions. Find your way—it might take an exam or two before you do.
