    Hello all!

This is my first time for CPA Exam and I am looking for any advice I could get. I am currently trying to study through 2011 Becker self-study book for FAR which I borrowed from a friend, since I can’t afford the updated reviews. I ran across this website while browsing thru AICPA site. I was wondering if I would be able to pass the exams while studying 2011 material along with NINJA notes and the Wiley MCQs, available to purchase from this site. I have read many posts here and everyone talks about watching videos first then revising and re-writing notes. Are video lectures included with the notes? Or do I have to purchase it separately?

Any help or advice is appreciated!

    Thanks

    FAR - 81 (2/13), Expired. 🙁 Retake 79 (11/14)

Hey Maneet, I think the NINJA way is to use NINJA notes and Wiley test MCQ bank to supplement the video lectures/books from a normal CPA review course (aka Becker/Gleim/Excel etc).

I understand about not being able to afford a review system, I was in the same boat, but it will be worth the investment to have access to lectures. Think about the cost of the test. If you are not retaining the information, you will not pass, the cost of the failed test would have paid for the review system.

I am a visual learner and need to hear and see what I am learning to retain the information (and there is a ton of that). The books do not stress the mnemonics you can use. I am currently studying for REG using Roger CPA Review system, and I sing the mnemonic like he does for Capital/operating leases (TT, BPO, 75 or 90). He even goes over some of the TBS. The lectures are very dynamic and funny, and he stresses parts that you need to remember, offers a cram course, and the cost is REASONABLE. Visit his site to see if this is something you can afford. It would be worth the cost.

    Good luck

    AUD - Passed
    FAR - Apr
    REG - Feb
    BEC - Feb

Purchase Becker. No interest financing for 18 months. Roughly $190/month payment.
