First exam tomorrow – FAR

Hey guys, so I have my first exam tomorrow. I had a few questions about what the actual exam is like.

    1) Is it on a computer with a full number pad available on the keyboard? When I take my practice exams, and I use the “calculator” function, I like to type the numbers with the keypad – it’s a lot easier and faster for me.

    2) Aside from my NTS and ID, is there anything anyone recommends to bring? I want to bring a drink in case I’m thirsty, but from what I understand I can only drink during a break.

Aside from that, I’m pretty confident – I’ve consistently been scoring around 85% on my practice exams, so hopefully I can replicate that on the real exam (although I hate pension accounting -_-)

    1) There is a number pad on the keyboard. It is a full keyboard with the number pad built in.

    2) You can't take anything into the testing room. I've never actually taken a break during the test, so I don't know if they allow you to access your locker. There is usually a drinking fountain nearby if you want water though. I think the less stuff you bring, the better.

An 85% on the practice exam is awesome, I'm fully confident that you'll pass! Good luck tomorrow, and make sure to relax tonight!

Good luck gtown. I'm taking FAR tomorrow as well. You can't take anything into the room with you. My plan (and recommendation) is not to drink too much right before the exam but make sure that you are hydrated enough to be comfortable. I didn't want to take a break during my CMA and really really really REALLY had to pee. The last 45 minutes were not so fun.

Thanks guys. I agree, I don't want to be uncomfortable during the exam, so hopefully I won't have to take a break. I may need to for the bathroom, but we'll see!

    Thanks for the encouragement!!

Yes you can get into your locker when you take a break that is where I always have a protein bar or something for the longer AUD and FAR exams. I have to eat something or else I will running and fumes and not thinking as well during the SIMS.

I usually like to take a break after MCQs and before SIMs. I go to my locker and have a quick snack and drink…no more than 5-7mins!! My test center allows me to access my locker, but I know some don't, in which case you can use the bathroom and use the water fountain.

Good Luck! Seems like you'll do just fine:!)

How'd it go? My first exam (also FAR) is scheduled for tomorrow. I've consistently scored between 83-90 for about two weeks until this past week. Now my scores have dipped into high 70s (and even one 64!!). I think I gave myself too much time for review after the lectures. I can FEEL the knowledge seeping from my head!!

The MCQs went very well – I even found some questions kind of ridiculous in terms of ease.

The TBS…well that got me. Several of them were out of left field from what I expected. Now time to wait and see….

I never took a break, but where i took the exam (NY) you were not allowed to go back into your locker when you are on a break. One thing that annoyed me with the computers I used was the resolution was very big. The sims wouldnt fit on one page, I would always have to scroll sideways to fit the full question/information they provided. Very annoying.

I am taking FAR tomorrow and it is my first exam as well. I feel somewhat comfortable with most of the topics, but we will see what hand I am dealt come 8 AM tomorrow. Does anyone have any last minute tips or suggestions? I plan on really utilizing journal entries and t accounts to help me come up with the answer. I focused a good portion of my review on rereading the material and making sure I understood the concepts as opposed to redoing all the multiple choice questions. Hopefully this review method works for me.

Yes, the problem with redoing MCQ or even TBS on a review course is if you do the same question over and over, you'll keep getting the right answer, and so it won't really reflect your progress. I would just make sure you understand how to apply the concepts with new numbers and a new context.
