I am a so attuned to a classroom environment to learn, that information from self-study books were near-to-impossible for me to retain. I needed a lecture based study material.
After graduating from college couple of years prior, I purchased the Gleim study material (which is very cheap…which made me very happy). This was highly recommended by my accounting professor at the time, as we used Gleim materials in our college courses. But I soon ran into a problem…I didn’t have a professor to help explain the material in a way for me to better understand it.
Well, two years later, and still not a passing grade, I switched to Yaeger homestudy. This is probably the best decision I could have made. With the video lectures, I have been averaging 90% or better on all MCQ’s for FAR as compared to a paltry 60%.
I believe that I am able to retain this information much more easily when a professor is explaining it, as opposed to just reading the material on my own.
My advice…find out the method of studying that works for you, and go for it. No matter the cost.
