Finally found out why I wasn't retaining the study material

I am a so attuned to a classroom environment to learn, that information from self-study books were near-to-impossible for me to retain. I needed a lecture based study material.

After graduating from college couple of years prior, I purchased the Gleim study material (which is very cheap…which made me very happy). This was highly recommended by my accounting professor at the time, as we used Gleim materials in our college courses. But I soon ran into a problem…I didn’t have a professor to help explain the material in a way for me to better understand it.

Well, two years later, and still not a passing grade, I switched to Yaeger homestudy. This is probably the best decision I could have made. With the video lectures, I have been averaging 90% or better on all MCQ’s for FAR as compared to a paltry 60%.

I believe that I am able to retain this information much more easily when a professor is explaining it, as opposed to just reading the material on my own.

My advice…find out the method of studying that works for you, and go for it. No matter the cost.

I am like you. My first few years of college was good and I took them at a normal collge. Now, I finishing my last year of classes at University of Phoenix. At first, I thought I would be able to zoom and not really put as much effort into as I had to previously. WRONG! Only classes such as these are tough and I had to learn how to make time and not procrastinate at all! I think this will help me next year when I began to study for the CPA exam. All of my contacts already told me to get Yaeger because of the old school chalk -board type enviroment that it provides. I watch alot of videos on youtube to get a feel of how it will be and I loved it. That Cindy chick is awesome!

Well I think MANY people have that issue with Gleim specifically. I'm glad Yaeger is working for you. I used gleim for the CMA and found them to be grossly lacking. Glad I figured it out before I tried for my CPA. Sucks to spend so much time and money on study materials and not have much luck. The good news is that you'll probably pick stuff up quickly now since you have a base to move on from.
