I haven’t posted in a while but am here because I’m really scared. I started studying for FAR in October, and my exam is scheduled for Jan 4. I am doing Chapter 9 today and if I don’t finish today, I’ll finish it tomorrow.

My favorite chapter so far has been chapter 8, and I think chapter 9 I like as well even though I just started it now. (Govt and NFP) I think that might be a good thing because everyone says that’s a major part of the exam? Is it and how major exactly?

The problem for me is, that I think I forgot everything that I learned before, and I haven’t done a progress test in a few weeks. (Yes, I got lazy and am admitting it now)

Now, I’m scared I won’t pass, because there’s no way to remember everything up to this point and I feel that I’m screwed. That, and a lot of my coworkers found out they failed FAR a few weeks ago.

What advice and someone give me? I took the first week of Jan off to study. Which means only 3 days of cramming without work in the way.

I’m actually scared beyond belief. The biggest problem for me is the calculation questions. I see a large calculation problem and I automatically freak out….

After I take this on Jan 4, I’m studying for only 1 week to retake AUD for a 3rd times the charm scenario hopefully.

I’d like to be 75% done with this exam by the time busy season starts, AT least 50% done.

Sorry for the rambling, I’m just a nervous wreck.

    Hey David,

First, relax. I know this whole CPA thing is extremely important to you (as well it should be) but it's not worth your sanity. Furthermore, you're a smart guy, remember that. I found that whenever I got stressed about this studying stuff I would simply take a step back and tell myself this isn't life and death..it will be okay. As soon as I calmed down I was able to think, focus, and be well prepared for the exam.

Just like Rudy Tomjonavich would say “never underestimate the heart of a champion.”

As far as studying goes, you have gone over most of the material (I'm assuming you're using Becker). Finish Chapter 9 and 10. Then use that week off to redo all the multiple choice questions for each chapter as well as the final exams.

You will find you remember more than you think..but you have to do a final review. If you don't, you'll miss questions on the exam you know but simply can't remember the irritating details.

Again, relax..you'll be better able to focus and perform. Let that oxygen into your brain.

Hope this helps my man. Good luck.

    FAR-87(08/25/12)
    AUD-93(10/08/12)

Thanks for the advice subie. I'm trying to relax and stay calm, the only reason I get worked up like this is because I'm scared of losing sections I already passed. The clock is always on my mind. Anyways, I plan to be a licensed CPA this time next year. I'm crossing my fingers I pass both this and AUD in less than 2 weeks.
