Final Review/Cram course for FAR retake

    Hi All,

Congrats to everyone who passed this release batch! I was unfortunately left out of this happy pool as I failed FAR with a 73. This is my last section. I’m disheartened but by no means defeated. I plan to start back up mid October post tax extension season and take it mid November. Would give me roughly a month to figure out those pesky 2 points I’m short of. I realize targeting weak areas isn’t the correct approach for a retake and that you should try to cover everything again, which I agree with. But I have no plans to do the full CPAExcel course again. I was considering meeting in the middle and purchasing a cram course that covers all topics but I can get through in 2-3 weeks and hammer MCQs in a week to 10 days. Any recommendations from people who have been in similar situations? I was looking at Roger Cram Course but wanted reviews from people who have it and can tell me if it would be enough to get me over that hump. Other recommendations for final review/cram courses or anything at all please feel free! Love A71 and the community it’s built 😀

I used Becker Final Review and I can't really say it helped all that much. I think you'd do better to go back and review the book you already have, but that's just my opinion. In only twice the time you could take a cram course you could likely outline the chapters in the book you have, and that would likely be more beneficial.

I passed, so maybe the Final Review course did work, but it seemed to hit on the big areas that I was already comfortable with and didn't sweat the details that make or break us come test day. Just my opinion.

I've never done a retake but if I were to, I'd most likely not read the textbook again. Now if you haven't read the textbook on your first try, then I'd suggest you do so.

I'd probably use Ninja Notes and do MCQs from a different test bank. You want to have fresh questions that you've never seen before. I like to do sets of questions on only one topic at a time. So I will do 50 questions on bonds for a couple hours and later on that day do 50 questions on inventory.

NFP/Government and IFRS are especially important to review.
