Final review Strategy

Hi all, I’m in a similar situation however I just finished the FAR book. I have the exam scheduled for May 30 th. Right now I need advice/input for a solid final review strategy. I have gone back and forth in what to do but can’t decide what materials I should use and how/ when. I feel a ton of anxiety and what to start but I can’t get myself to calm down until I have the “right” final review strategy in place.

I basically need a two parts: one is how to review the material and second is MCQs/SIMs. But how to conquer both?

Should I re-read the book at a faster pace or at least fast as possible? I read so slow and try to absorb the material each time maybe overdoing it and could take a long time. I don’t necessarily think I’m OCD but I feel so uneasy when material is skipped or I don’t read it. However in the book I have my side notes in margins along with the instructors notes (Becker). Plus there are pass keys summary charts and most importantly examples to walk thru.

After I read the chapter I can do MCQs on that chapter as well to test my knowledge.

I have purchased the flash cards and also printed the outlines for each chapter. Could I just go thru these two items and then do like 100 MCQs for that sections. Or should I be doing all sections for MCQs.

    Is this a better alternative?

Additionally when I first did the MCQS for each section I began to type/copy paste/screenshots of items I got wrong or didn’t understand or ones that provided additional information in a topic. So I have these to review as well. Do I review these as well?

I don’t not waste time and want to become stronger with the material each day. I would like to have reviewed all the material within the next week and then focus on MCQs and flash cards the last several days before the test.

I plan to take a few days off to get myself ready so that should help also.

Please provide your input. I really appreciate it.

    R - 71, 77

I think re-reading the book is a waste of time and isn't much of a help. I have FAR 8 days from today so Im in final review mode. I decided to buy the Ninja MCQs and im quite satisfied with it because of the ability to customize the questions (different sections, missed questions, trouble questions, new questions, etc) and how they are broken down by topic. Ive been doing sets of 10 questions and if I get a question wrong or I'm not too sure why the answer is right then I go to my notes or the book (if needed) and write down a little explanation or note saying why it is what it is. Ill probably be doing doing as many mcqs this way as I possibly can over the next few days and some simulations here and there as well. I would say reviewing notes or flashcards for a bit each day also helps.

I agree with Cool_kid. i have my exam scheduled for 5/22 and I was making the same mistake on re-reading the book. After consulting most ppl on here i reached the conclusion that it's to do the MCQ hammer time non stop! I'm currently doing MCQs and feeling a lot better as concepts are sinking in much better than just reading the book. If you feel you still need to read to something just supplement with NINJA notes and you should be good 🙂

My review plan was 1 chapter a day of Becker. I re-read the book for my review (it's much faster the second time around) and made sure I understood all the examples and I knew all the pass keys. Then I studied the outlines and flash cards until I had pretty much memorized them. I'm not a fan of the do-MCQ-til-you-drop method. I had saved the “optional” Becker questions for the review phase so I did those last. Then, at most I did maybe 30 MCQ progress tests each day during the review phase of other chapters because I realized I just memorized the right answers from when I saw them before so this wasn't very effective for me. I made sure I could do the SIMS and I took both Becker finals. Good luck!

    FAR - 93 (YAY!!!!)
    REG - 93 (Double YAY!)
    BEC - 87 (Whew!)
    AUD - 96 (DONE!!!!!)

    Hi all,

So after I receiving suggestions from several people on this forum (Thanks btw) I started my Final review. Exam is on May 30th, 8am. I am using Becker materials and have never used anything else.

My final review strategy for the past week has been to go thru each sections' Flash Cards, reading the chapter outline, and also reading my own notes which I typed up/wrote down as I went throughout the HW MCQs the first time around. Then, I do a progress test for that sections averaging about 30-50 questions per section.

So far I have mixed feelings and results about this approach, I was advised not to try to re-read the book as it will waste a lot of time, which I do agree with, but I do feel that that I am missing out on some of the “details” that are explained in the book that are not really covered with FCs, outlines, notes or questions alone.

Has anybody else found this combination a successful one?

I am on F9 currently and will have finished all sections by tonight or tomorrow morning. I have been studying all weekend and am feeling burnt out at the moment, but I am trying to finish as much as possible. No game of thrones tonight 🙁

I feel thatI have “refreshed” my mind of most topics and approaches to some of the problems but now I need a solid plan to to solidify the big topics and how to approach problems.

What suggestion do you all have for my last week and half prior to the test that I should do to maximize my knowledge. I know its impossible to learn each and everything but I want to set myself up for a strong performance on test day. I need these last 10 days to be real value added study time.

    What should I do?

Thanks for the information and advise in advance. I will take my first practice test tomorrow afternoon and I don't know why but I feel nervous about that lol…
