I’m giving myself two weeks to do a final review for FAR. I have been using Becker, and am planning on going through my notes, doing the practice exams, and redoing multiple choice questions. I was wondering if any of you have some thoughts and methods that you have used in the past for the final review before the exam. Is two weeks enough? I hope so!

    Thanks!

I basically do the same thing and so far it seems to be working. During the last two weeks I just review all of my notes and do as many MCQ as I can. I do tend to do MCQs I have never seen before though to see the various ways in which they can ask the same question. Also, the more you practice, the faster you become at answering questions which can save you some valuable time when taking the examination.

I'm in similar stage. For final review, I read the chapter, take notes while reading, and then do MCQs. Its worked well so far but at the same time its taking a lot of time (1 1/2 day – 2 days). Do you guys read the chapter at all during final review or strictly focus on MCQs? I feel like there is so much information that the only way to improve your chances of retaining the material is by doing MCQs, which is why I'm planning to skip reading the chapters. Also, I start working full-time starting this Friday so time is going to be of essence.

It seems like most people focus on doing a ridiculous amount of MCQs during the final review, and just reviewing any notes they've taken. I think I will re read the chapters on stuff that I'm really not comfortable with, but it seems MCQs are the way to go!

I personally like to read the book again and rework all MCQs/SIMs. I know many people on this board recommend doing thousands of MCQs and not focus on reading; not a bad advice but both REG and FAR were very conceptual heavy for me…and without having read the book couple times, I may not have passed.

Do what works for you and helps you understand better. If you get a question right, make sure you know why it's right or wrong and not because you had memorized it. You have 14 days for final review which is plenty of time. I did my final review in 10 days with 9 FAR chapter ('11 version). I avg about 1-1.5 day for each chapter and it turned okay. I couldn't spend as much time on GOV't & NFP chapters (bad idea, very heavily tested), but luckily I had Jeff's Ninja Audio which I listened to on my way to the test (1hr drive). The audio was a lifesaver especially since I hadn't practiced Gov't & NFP as much. However, if you don't have the audio, Becker is just as sufficient but make sure to read those chapter couple times and work all those MCQs, they are very helpful on the test day.

    Good Luck!
