I am currently studying to take FAR on January 11th. Currently I have only finished section 2 of the Becker material on FAR. Does anyone here have any suggestions on how to do a quick cram and still be able to pass?

Its going to be really tough but you could try to jam 3 chapters under each week and use that last little bit of time to do MCQs over and over and reread. I would suggest rescheduling until later in the month. Unless you are currently not working it will be near impossible to retain all the information that quickly

I would say reschedule–FAR is a beast because of the amount of information you cover.

The reason I am doing this is because I am currently on break from Grad School and my NTS expires on Jan 11th so if I reschedule I lose $200. So I currently have 24 hrs a day to study and at my current pass I am studying about 10 hours a day.

I mean if you can handle it do your thing. I'd say its worth a shot if you're going to lose out on the money. You can always take a crack at it and see where you need to strength up for the 2nd time. Its going to be a tough journey. Good luck

It'll be a crunch, but with you not working it should be doable. Here is my “time efficient study technique”:

    FAR - 79 - 07/2012
    AUD - 65, 78 - 11/2012

Not that big of a deal really. Study every day. Depending on how you study its actually way better to only spend a few weeks per section in stead of months. Think about how you study and do that, instead of following peoples advice. I spent about 4 week on FAR, but really closer to 3 since I was lazy the first week. I'm happy to tell you what I did, but again its pretty individual.

I watched the videos all straight in a row. No book during this phase. After I finished those I went through the book. Stuff I had down at this point I mostly ignored. Stuff I didn't get, I rewatched the videos for. If its not obvious, I LOVED my videos. I used Roger, and I think his was of explaining things is fantastic. Some people think videos are a waste of time, especially if you're in a hurry but I learn best that way. A few days out I started doing MCQs. The day of the test I skimmed over the entire book again. Total I would say I spent 80 hours or so, but its been a while and I don't really remember, so give or take 10 hours either way.

Good advice I think I will just study as much as I can and hope for the best seems like it is possible.

Do It! I just (may have gotten lucky) squeezed by with a 78 on FAR after a month and 10 days of study (and I never went through advanced accounting in school..Im actually a comm major ;). Id say continue with the Becker, and get Wiley testbank and or Ninja notes and or Audio. Be reading/doing mcq/and re-reading minimum 6 hours a day, minimum (some of my days stretched out over 8). What has been said above is absolutely correct, the difficulty is retaining, and being able to regurgitate tons of material on that one day.

Id even go so far as to say.. focus on MCQ more than your Becker materials. As you go through the MCQ don't just answer and continue, answer…then understand. Allow the AICPA to pull you to the information they will probably focus on during their exam, then note what you don't think you will remember (and review these notes). I swear if you don't have the time to completely grasp 100% of the material (Becker way), then you should focus your understanding on what is most likely to be on the exam (MCQ released by AICPA, and..at least in my case, a good dose of ninja notes).

Also, focus on the weak points! If you have any understanding/memory of a subject in school.. pass it up, and pump one you have no memory of.

Finally, pray. You need to understand you are taking a chance here, and in all likelihood (unless you know this stuff before study) you will fail. Use it as a learning opportunity at the least, and remember this thing is all about perseverance.

You might as well take it if you're going to lose the $200 anyway. You can always retake next window.

10 hours a day and you have like 20 days is plenty. You can easily do a chapter a day (4 hr lectures, attempt all mcq, sims) and then do a hard review for like 7-10 days.

If you're not working full time and you have 10 hours a day to put in, you might be good. Just make sure you put in the time even through the holidays.

Especially if your NTS expires 1/11 I'd say go for it. Good luck!
