I have am in the process of beginning to study of FAR using the Yaeger study plan. I started studying for FAR roughly 9 months ago but had to put this on hold due to some family issues. Needless to say I am back again ready to start studying and I am seeing if anyone has a good method for studying using the Yaeger materials? Do you think it is better to watch the video and then read the corresponding section in the book, or read the book first and then watch the video? I am sure I will get numerous varied responses but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Watch the video first, then read the book, do the homework , rewatch the video on weak areas. But you should by the whiley test bank as well. You wont pass without it. The assigned homework is not sufficient to pass from My experience.

In the first Yaeger lecture, they'll explain what you should do. Watch the lecture, follow along in the Wiley book, pause when necessary to take good notes, then do questions on your own from book and test bank. If I was getting questions wrong, I would refine my notes and go back to read on my own what was covered in the lecture to get a better understanding.

Do whatever makes the material stick with you, you'll learn what works best for you after a while.

For FAR I would watch the videos first. The instructors will point out errors in the text and focus on what is important. The FAR book has so much material that reading it first may be inefficient. Watch the videos and only study the material the instructors point out.

Watch the video first. Also at time of final review watch the videos. The material is a lot and the video help all the way.

My suggestion is to supplement Yaeger material with Ninja Notes. You will easily pick up 10 point boost from the notes and audio program.

    FAR - 5/14
    AUD - 8/14
    REG - 2/15

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I was thinking about doing the video's first but there are some great ideas on how to proceed after that!

Watch the videos and don't read the book. As you work through the questions on each section, look back through the book and read those areas to find the answer and that'll do. Except for REG-that's the only section Yaeger might not be good enough on, so do what I'm doing and get the ninja notes and mcq to supplement for REG.

I am also using Yaeger to study for FAR and am slightly more than halfway. However, so far I've just been doing the problems covered in the lectures and the assigned problems. I haven't touched the Wiley Test Bank at all..! Getting pretty worried since most people here are all about pounding through as many MCQ as possible. How do you recommend I incorporate WTB into my studying from this point forward? I'm not sure how Yaeger wants us to use WTB…as a supplement to each chapter or as final review after we've gone through all lectures? Thanks in advance!

I used Yaeger to study for FAR, and manipulated my study plan to match the NINJA method. I only followed along in the book during video lectures, and took notes on what they discussed. There is a lot of filler in the Wiley book, and is not necessary in their opinion.

Essentially, I watched all the lectures first and took about 200 pages of notes. Next, I went to the first chapter notes and made flash cards out of each note. Then, I mastered the MCQ's in Wiley Test Bank for that chapter. I would do the same for each subsequent chapter, all the while reviewing my note cards during any spare time.

When it was all said and done, I made about 600 flash cards, and STILL went into the test feeling a little unprepared. And from what I've gathered, that's normal for this exam. There is so much material, that I would study ONLY what the Yaeger instructors teach.

(By the way, I supplemented with NINJA Notes/NINJA Audio to help make additional flashcards. There were some good info in those that I saw on the exam which was not in Yaeger.)
