I need to start studying for FAR. I just looked at what’s available on Amazon. I can get a used 2011 copy of Wiley for $7. The 2012/3 editions go for $20-$35. The contents pages appear to list exactly the same modules. Is it really worth picking up the newest version?

Advice from several of my accounting professors was – it's all a sales pitch – it really doesn't change that much. I just passed FAR using Becker 2010. There wasn't anything on my exam not covered in my 2010 Becker book. I guess there's a chance there may be a few differences but I just checked the updates online before starting each chapter- and 99% of the time the updates related to typos not accounting changes – accounting is accounting – at least for FAR.

great! thanks for your valuable input! And I work on audits daily so if anything changes in fs reporting, I'm sure I'll know about it from our audit manager.
