Im waiting on my 12/6 FAR result. If i failed (which i feel I did) i need to pass next time around before busy season is out of control. im debating Rogers, or Becker Home studies, or neither and just do mcq’s non stop, maybe with wiley test bank.

do you guys think i should do a whole course step by step like rogers or becker (if so which is better) , or is the lectures etc a waste of money at this point and maybe i should just get the wiley test bank.

    advice is appreciated.

    REG - 5/31/12 - 78
    BEC - 8/31/12 - 77

    Just my two cents:

You've been through the review course material once so you should have a decent grasp of the material overall.

I would buy the Ninja notes and re-write them once at the beginning and once at the end, right before the exam.

I would get the PRINTED Wiley book, not the online test bank. The online, I understand from someone using it via Yaeger, is about what you will see on the exam. The PRINTED book, however, is much much harder than the exam will be. I used the printed book for all of my exams and felt BEC and FAR were elementary compared to Wiley's book. Better to beat yourself up with difficult questions and be overprepared for the exam.

Do every singled Wiley MCQ 2-3 time and you will be fine. That's all I did.

    thanks.

i did do a lecture course this past time but it was 2011 yeager and i flew through the lectures as fast as possible without doing any questions. just lecture after lecture just to get through them. so i dont know if i really benefited from the lectures too much. thats why i was considering starting from scratch and having explanations of all the topics again, while doing the multiple choice for each section after the lecture (which im assuming is the correct way instead of watching all the lectures before doing any mcq's)

ithen used exammatrix for practice questions. which worked on the last 3, but FAR is a lot more intense i feel.

I used Becker and went through a chapter at a time then did some rework for a few weeks. Everyone has their method that will work best, but repetition is extremely important.

I had so many failures to launch in an attempt to find a study approach that worked, I had already conceded this past FAR attempt as a dry run. I was actually very relaxed because I had no hopes to pass–expecting I would get tons of bonds, leases, pensions, etc. Much to my surprise, my test was largely devoid of any of these topics. Further, I had few true computations compared to Wiley's printed book.

I fully expected to have to retool after failing FAR that I just spiked all the review courses except for Ninja and Wiley Printed book. I wrote out the Wiley notes to get a good mental framework for what's included in the exam and then I took to doing nothing but MCQ's. I was only able to get through Wiley's ~1,500 questions twice. But that was enough. As I went through the first time, I took detailed notes about what I missed. The second time through I also wrote notes on what I missed.

I somehow pulled out a hat trick and passed with a 79. Not saying you will get that lucky but I made it through using just Wiley printed and Ninja notes.

p.s. I would double whatever time you have allocated for Govt and NFP.

The test bank and book from Wiley use the same types of questions.

    thanks….

any other opinions on starting a whole new program, or just doing multiple choice.

and which study programs are best..im leaning towards roger or becker this time if i purchase one.

maybe by some miracle i see a 75, when my score comes in the next day or 2…then this wont matter

Here's to hoping you passed but to answer your question I think it would depend on the score you receive. If you get in the low 70's (below 75) I would think you should go back over the review program you already have and do lots of mcqs. If you score in low 60s or below I would probably look at another review course if you feel the one you have didn't help you. I would chose Roger only because you have gone through one review course and Roger should give you that extra edge to pass without spending a ton of money on Becker. Either way lots of MCQs is key. This is coming from someone who hasn't take FAR yet, by the way.

thanks destiny….actually becker and roger should be about the same amount price wise…only because wayyy back i took becker live courses but didnt take seriously which is why imstill at this…so i get 50% off as a past customer….becker homestudy for FAR comes out to $560…if i can get the frsh start discount for rogers, i think its around 475 or 500…so not too much more for becker if its the better choice.

Trying to find out the hours of FAR lectures for both. Looks like Becker is 32 hours of lectures. Can't find how many hours Rogers FAR lectures are. Anyone know?

I used Becker – very good!!!

There are 10 lectures of around 3 – 3:30 hours. You have dedicated questions for each lecture. I recommend to work them and sims after each lecture to master the content…

At the end, keep going with tons on MCQ!

Anyway, I hope you will pass and don't need these advices 😉

    FAR (21 Nov 2012): 92
    REG (26 Nov 2012): 88
    AUD (28 Nov 2012): 99
    BEC (30 Nov 2012): 86
