Hey Everyone,

I have a major dilemma. I recently purchased Roger and went through some of the lectures. However, I have my exam at the end of August and have not gone through all the lectures. I haven’t even attempted the questions yet. What should i do? Is there a list of topics that anyone can provide that i should really focus on and hit those questions?

I feel like my brain is on an overload mode. Nothing sticks yet. Please help me.

FAR is a tricky one. There are so many topics and such an overwhelming amount of material. There are definitely heavy hitters like Leases, Pensions, Bonds, Gov't/NFP, IFRS, and of course you have to know your journal entries… but don't underestimate the importance of the smaller subjects like Earnings Per Share, Segment Reporting, Derivatives, and Business Combinations. And Investments… And Present Value calculations… and Deferred Taxes….

Basically, it's all important, and it's all fair game. The worst feeling is focusing heavily on areas that are “known” to be heavily tested, then finding out on test day that everything really is fair game.

I would suggest taking the time now to get an introduction to everything, as well as doing a final review. This way you will be familiar with all topics. FAR is such a beast, restudying for it is torture.

@MCLKT How did you study/restudy for it. I have gone through the becker lectures and homework. Now I am re-writing notes and trying to understand topics. But its not going that good.

I used/am using the NINJA method (a little modified)… I watched the videos and took notes. I worked the problems in Roger's book as I went through for most of the sections. I finished 4 weeks out then spent 2 weeks rewriting my notes and doing some questions and the last 2 weeks I've been hitting the questions hard. I did cpatestbank practice test 1 week out and now I'm working on focusing on the areas where I'm weak based on the practice test. I've rewatched a few lectures read through my notes and did more mcq over the weak areas. I'm still working on it. Will be all weekend.

FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.
