Just took FAR, wow what a beating. Thought i’d post to get some another71cpa magic dust on me. Finished the final sim with 5 minutes left. The sims were the worst.

Good luck to anyone tackling this beast by the end of the month. you’ll need it.

    It was a beating!

I struggled to finish on time – really had to speed through the sims to finish with 30 seconds to go. It surprised the heck out of me because I am typically a fast test taker.

That was the worst test I ever remember taking – worse than the bar exam.

    BEC - 10/18/2010 - 79
    FAR - 10/28/2010 - 82
    AUD - 11/04/2010 - 73; 02/18/2011 - 86 - IT'S OVER!!!!!!
    REG - 11/21/2010 - 83

Nice (kind of) to hear someone else had the same feelings after this one. Hopefully we all passed!

it's not as bad as you think. Plus you've done well on the others. I thought time mgt was bigger on REG. the key is making up good time on the 1st testlet. I think i did mine in 30 minutes. good luck bro

I'm fairly certain I can get good time on the first testlet… I can kind of tell what will be the “medium” questions and the “difficult” questions by the fact that the medium ones usually aren't longer than 2 lines, with no more than 2 variables going on at once. The more difficult ones are a good 4-5 lines with 3-5 variables.

I can't for the life of me actually comfortably answer the more difficult questions in under 2 minutes. I would say my average is like 2:15-2:30 for those, whereas the easier ones I'm hitting them at like :45.

I've studied FAR to the point that I feel pretty certain I could pass if it wasn't for that damned time limit. It is the main thing I am dreading.

Ok, like many before me and many yet to come, I am looking for some shred of hope. I did a FAR retake today.. My previous score was 72. I think that I did very well on my multiple choice.. It wnt from medium to very wordy to medium. I am confident that I was absolutely right on about 70 out of the 90, 10 more maybes, and 10 ??… but there were no questions that I was thinking. huh?

Ok.. here is the bad part the sims I got CRUSHED.. i could not believe all of the journal entrys!! I know that my research Q's I got correct.. and am confident tht I got at least Very good on the communictions. Hs anyone passed even though getting totally crushed on the sims? UGGGGG. My last section! HELP! give me a probability adjusted thumbs up or down…and be honest!

many people don't even get a chance to work on the sims without rushing through and guessing, and they still pass. the grading for FAR seems like a big mystery. I'd say as long as you felt you did well in the m/c and the writing/research as you say, unless you got literally every question wrong in the sims, I don't see why you can't hit the 75.

    good luck.

My sims were absolutely killer stuff. I hope you are right CPAMEPLZ, because mine was also all journal entries.

    Thanks again everyone.

I had the opposite experience! The first batch of multiple choice I had 4 that I was not 100% on, then on the second and third batches, I had some REALLY tough questions! At least 5 to 6 questions on both of those that I was unsure of.

My sims were a breeze for me b/c I'm extremely comfortable creating journal entries. However, I must say that these were the hardest research simulations I've had yet, although I was fortunate to stumble upon some answers! My writing sections weren't bad but for some reason, I struggle on them!

    Aud - 65 + 79, BEC - 82, REG - 89, FAR - 86

Well I don't have a clue how I did. I can barely remember even taking the first three testlets. My memory comes back to me on the sims where I know I got both research questions, did well on one of the writing sections, and weaker on the second. For some reason I signed both of my memos with “John Quincy Adams, CPA.”. Have no idea why I thought of that bloke–though a great bloke he was.

When i left it felt like i had passed, but here's what is throwing me: when I walked out of BEC, I thought I had nailed the thing!! Nailed it! Then my score comes back and it was just an 83. I know, i know, be grateful for that 83! And I am, but I walked out of FAR with such a heavier feeling that I'm thinking maybe I'll be taking this one again.

    We'll see.

FormerChemist – I thought I nailed BEC, too – was expecting at least an 85. I scored a 79. I felt terrible coming out of FAR, but scored higher than BEC. Just remember – how many people ever say they think they nailed FAR? Yet it has the same pass rate as BEC.

    BEC - 10/18/2010 - 79
    FAR - 10/28/2010 - 82
    AUD - 11/04/2010 - 73; 02/18/2011 - 86 - IT'S OVER!!!!!!
    REG - 11/21/2010 - 83

I just took FAR yesterday Nov 23rd. I studied so much for that exam and was absolutley leveled on some of the twists and turns of the questions I was getting. The SIMS were tough too. I know I did good on the communications and the searches but some of the other tabs were tough with so many JEs!!!! I felt like a lot of things I studied was not even on the exam!!! WTF…..All I know is this is my last part and it was BRUTAL =( Has anyone heard what the new format for FAR will be in January as far as the differences from now?

    AUD – 80, BEC – 76, REG – 81, FAR – 11/23/2010

Thanks, tulip. I was actually already planning my retake when I logged onto this site last night. Then I started reading about other people who were sure they had failed only to receive a passing score. My hopes went from dashed to “okay, maybe I still passed that monster.”.

Really glad to hear you thought you had done real well on BEC. That little tidbit has my thinking all messed up.

    BEC--83
    FAR--89 !!
    AUD--85
