FAR Testlets did NOT get harder :(

    Hi, I’m a newbie!

I took FAR today and I am just feeling terrible. My family is counting on me to get through this test and I do not want to let them down!!

So, with my exam today my MCQ testlets did not increase in difficulty; is that a good indication that I failed the test?

Also, the simulations were NOTHING like what I practiced in Becker!!! Way more difficult! Might have to switch it up if I did fail!

Not necessarily. I didn't think my testlets got harder and when I walked out of the testing center, I was 99% sure I didn't pass, but ended up with an 84. The whole scoring process is so secretive, it doesn't do much good to try and figure out how you did. Just be glad you got the test over with and take a few days off and enjoy life again 🙂

Harder is relative…I also took FAR today and I think the questions technically got “harder” for the 2nd and 3rd testlets, but I happened to know that material well. So, for me, it was actually easier. If you don't feel the questions got more complex then..maybe you didn't do well but it's hard to say. The MCs are 60% of your grade.

I agree with you about the SIMS…they were hard. But, I think the SIMS in Becker prepared me for them pretty well TBH.

Using Becker, Ninja Notes, and CpaReviewForFree

    FAR - 87 (2/17)
    REG - 89 (4/21)
    AUD - 89 (5/31)
    BEC - 89 (7/11)

From my FAR experience, I think u would need at least one “harder” level MCQ testlet from the three, and do ok on simulations to just barely pass the exam. Otherwise, it might be difficult to pass.

But u never know, just wait until u see the actual results.

When I took FAR, I noticed that my third testlet seemed to have more complex calculations. However, when I took AUD and BEC I could not tell at all. AUD I felt like I nailed it and BEC I was almost certain that I had failed.

When I took FAR I didn't think any of my testlets got harder and actually felt like I was having an anxiety attack because I was sitting there thinking “great you failed! these testlets all seem the same!” … and yes the SIMS were pretty rough. Since that was my first exam I really didn't know how to gauge how I did…. turns out I got an 80. Don't stress too much you really never know! Just start plugging away on the next one!

If you think they were all easy then you passed. They probably got harder but you were well prepared.

Finally!! Some one understands how terrible it feels after taking FAR!! I'm sorry for your situation and I know how the pressure is, with the fam and all. But this is the exact same feeling I felt after I took FAR. Horrible and EXHAUSTED. Even if we do fail and disappoint people close to us, atleast we can say we had a deep connection with someone. Gotta Thank Jeff for that.

    Reg 4/18/12 78
    Far 7/30/12 74, 74, 75
    Bec 11/11/12 74, 78
    Aud TBD 51, 71, XX

Thank you for everyone who responded! You made me realize whether I passed or failed I can't do anything now but move on and keep trying.

I guess I just wasn't expecting to walk out of the testing center feeling completely defeated!! Feeling much better today! I have 9 day to relax before I start the REG review….so, I am defintiely not going to be mad at myself for my 9 days off!! 🙂

I had the exact same experience. My first testlet was challenging but the second and third definitely got easier. I even thought the simulations were pretty easy. I got so frustrated during the exam because I just knew I was failing. This is my second time taking the exam so, it is possible that I knew the material better but I doubt it. I'm just expecting another disappointment next week. My first testlet was the only one with computations and I assume that means I didn't do so hot. Any feedback?
