Just took the test yesterday, I was surprised at how much of the test was task based questions. I was even more surprised that I could use the “authoritative literature” to search for other stuff not just the codification question.

I feel that I spent too much time during prep trying to figure out how to get right answers than I should have because I felt that more of the questions were theory driven and designed to test fundamental knowledge not just calculations. I would advise test takers to try and learn the fundamental issues more.

    Hey kevinco,

Can you expand on a few of your statements more:

1)When you say you were surprised by how much of the test was task based, do you mean the MCQs were more calculations than theory, or the task based simulations themselves were more calculations?

2)What do you mean by “try and learn the fundamental issues more?”

Just took FAR this week too. The first testlet was mostly conceptual, not too many calculations.

My second and third testlets involved 10x as much calculations as the first one testlet though..

    FAR (5/07/13): 96
