Hey everyone. This is my first exam of the 4 parts that I am going to be taking. I am taking it on October 15th. I’ve been using Becker’s study materials and have been staying pretty up to date on the materials. I covered all the chapters on my own and did all of the homeworks. I also took an in-person class as well which served as a review for me. These last few days have been somewhat stressful because I’m not sure what I should study…I do not plan on purchasing the Becker Final Review package, so what should I do to study? Today I went through 3 chapters and took some notes and did a few progress tests on some smaller section (For instance on sections F3-F6 I got 85% right). What would you recommend to do for studying. Again, this is my first exam so I am not sure if I am overstudying or understudying or what! Please help!

    FAR (10/15/10) = 94
    AUD (11/24/10) = 89
    BEC (5/20/11) = 87
    REG (8/23/11) = 78

i would say keep doing what you are doing. this allows you to stay sharp with the material, which will help make it stick. keep reviewing, don't stop. who cares if you over study, being more prepared now is way better than having to completely restudy for the exam 2 months from now if you don't pass the first time. keep at it! trust me, it feels great to get this beast out of the way.

    FAR - 81
    BEC - 73, 73, 79
    REG - 72, 75
    AUD - 72, 68, 82

    DONE!!!!

PleasePass In CPA exams I don't think there is a word “over studying” until you receive your score. The exam is so upredictable that you might think you are taking another section of the exam, I am studying for FAR too right now and I am on my second round of Yaeger lectures which is more or less 48 hrs. Others would say “overkill” but I would always go to the prometric center fully prepared and hoping to get 75 at least! Make sure that you do tons of MCQ's.

    BEC 2/8/10 - 75 (studied hard & prayed less)
REG 5/15/10 - 88 (studied less but prayed hard)
AUDITING 8/9/10 - 79 (studied hard and prayed hard)
FAR 11/30/10 - 79 (studied hard and prayed hard) Thanks GOD! I'm DONE

I would suggest taking the practice final exams that Becker provides, under testing conditions.

    FAR – (Oct 5 – waiting)

    BEC – 81

    REG – 82

    AUD – 88

If you feel that what you are doing is productive, I would keep doing it. I had different study habits from my peers, but I felt that it worked, so I continued to do it my own way. Do whatever “works” for you if it helps you feel prepared. All you can do is study hard and put your knowledge to the ultimate test. If you give it 100%, you will have no regrets.

    AUD: 95 (7/14/10)
    REG: 94 (7/22/10)
    BEC: 87 (7/29/10)
    FAR: 95 (8/12/10)

Thanks guys…im going over stuff now as we speak..was wondering if you guys thought it was important to know the journal entries surrounding the recording of current year pension expense. It wasn't really emphasized in Becker. I understand where the amounts come from but am having trouble memorizing journal entries to record the individual amounts. Anyone?

    AUD (11/24/10) = 89

Answer all of the questions in “CPA Review For Free” on the Internet. It does you no good to memorize the answers in Becker.

I've heard Journal Entries are important.. possibly for the sims?

Hey guys, thought I would weigh in with some help… remember every test is different. That said I believe journal entries are good to know. you may not have to actually make the journal entry, but know which part of the journal entry they are looking for. Generally if you feel comfortable with the journal entry you will do great because you know the theory and thought process. Journal entries will more likely than not come up, on which topic is another question. As for materials to review… When I was going through my final review I focused on Cash Flows, Gov't/NFP accounting, Investments, Business consolidations heavily. I know there is more, but can't think of them… I also read through my notes 3 or 4 times, and what ever I felt fuzzy on I read in the book. Not that it matters, but I studied about 70 hrs. with Yaeger. 48 for the videos and 20 or so on MCQ's (3-400) and re-reading.

    BEC: 73,81(7/6/2010); AUD: 75(5/24/2010); FAR: 76(8/31/2010); REG: 77 (10/18/2010) - DONE!!!!

It all depends on your particular test. I guess I got lucky as I didn't focus heavily on journal entries in my preparation and managed well. I did do the Final Review though and it gave a good overview / crash review.

BTW I was tested on almost every topic and more, so make sure you know the other chapters as well.

    DONE!

Just took a progress test for all chapters and got 82/100 correct. Yesterday I took the simulated exams and made sure to note the questions I had trouble with and typed those out and am studying those. Any recommendations for last minute studying? My progress exam showed I only got a 56% on F7 questions so I am going to look at F7 a little bit more and then read through the different Sims the Becker software has…anyone else have suggestions?
