    Hey everyone,

    Hope you are all getting back passing scores!

    I’m currently preparing for FAR (w/ Becker) and I just got through F5 (barely) and now got pushed back down into the ground on F6… I feel so lost, no way in my mind do I feel like I am going to pass. I can’t even put the 5-6 hours+ studying hours a day (that are currently available to me) because I just feel so damn discouraged.

    Should I begin my studies from the beginning of the entire program? What do you guys do when you find yourself getting crushed and don’t know how to move on?

    F5 and F6 are arguably the most difficult topics in the entire CPA exam. Don't let that get you down, EVERYBODY has trouble with these sections. Just do your best.

    BEC- 80
    REG- 68, 71, July
    AUD- 61 , 84
    FAR- -- 75 🙂

    How can I possibly do the questions on the test if I can only do half of becker?!

    I also have wiley books, and I cannot stand that when I study with becker, I can never get a wiley question right! So discouraging

    Spent 25 hours studying Becker F5, and still had a hard time with it. You just gotta keep plugging away and moving forward. When i took FAR, I didn't even end up having that many questions from F5 so you just never know.

    At least you have F8 and F9 to look forward to. Those are the easy chapters that make you feel good about your studying lol.

    FAR is like the movie 300. You are far outnumbered by the amount of information and the odds are against you, but you cant give up.

    I have till Oct 14th, possibly going to push it back till the 27th.. I do not currently have a job or school (starting job in Nov.)

    I just passed bec and aud this passed window, and FAR is worse than both of them combined!

    Do you think I would be ok with the oct 14th date?

    F5, F6, & F7 are all brutal. Fight through them and you'll pass.

    Try that AICPA Released Simulation that is on Bonds included with the 2011 becker. that one is very good

    @Bronzy,

    You are not alone. I used Becker for FAR, and I struggled a lot with the material. FAR was by far the most difficult test for me to prepare for. I just couldn't seem to retain much given the volume. It was also my last section, so I was burnt out. I ended up having to run through Becker 3 times. Had I started doing progress quizzes early on, I might only have needed to go through Becker once. I have no idea whether I passed.

    Because FAR is so voluminous, it's important to keep the material fresh. I highly recommend doing progress quizzes and/or reviewing your old notes frequently.

    Even though I went through Becker three times, I still didn't feel even close to prepared when I took the exam. That's just how it goes though. I went in with the hope that I knew enough to get a 75.

    Good luck to you!

    Wow, I really appreciate the feedback from you all.

    You really have gave me that boost I needed to continue to fight through these lectures and learn from my mistakes instead of wanting to put a hole in the wall! I had the box checked in becker to reset progress, haha. Thanks so much, hope anyone else studying for FAR can read all the encouraging stuff you guys said, feels great to know your not the only one going through this!

    @bronzy,

    This board really is awesome! I posted here many times about my frustration with FAR and I received lots of encouraging feedback that helped to keep me going. There were times that I was in tears because I felt so overwhelmed. I kept going though even though part of me wanted to give up.

    F6 and F7 will both be brutal but as someone else said, F8 & F9 are easier. If you're not familiar with govt and NP accounting F8 & F9 will be a bit confusing at first, but overall they aren't too bad.

    If you end up feeling like having that extra two weeks would help, then take advantage of it. It's better to take a little bit more time and pass the first time than to have to retake FAR. If it were me, and I didn't have to start my job until Nov., I'd take the extra two weeks. It could make the difference between passing and failing.

    Oh, one more tip:

    Pull up “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor on YouTube and rock out to it when ever you need to get your energy and determination up!

    FAR I came out of always feeling like I got steamrolled no matter what.

    My personal feeling when going through Becker for FAR (had to do it twice):

    F1 – hmm FAR doesnt seem too bad…

    F2 – WOW this is so much stuff!!!! lot of misc topics (makes you want to quit studying for FAR because there's so much detail)

    F3 – very hard

    F4 – easier

    F5 – BRUTAL the bonds/leases chapter -> but if you understand the major things well you will be fine. remember that most candidates are afraid of bonds believe me. so get to the point you understand them. it's great if you understand them. im not sure i still do since my exam was months ago 🙂

    F6 – tricky stuff

    F7 – BRUTAL when going through it because of the stockholders equity section and the statement of cash flows section

    F8 & F9 – NFP/Govt –>dont be afraid of this. these are just time consuming things to study for that most candidates have likely never seen/learned before unless they had it(but still make sure you leave enough time to learn these fairly well because the AICPA CSO has them at (like 20% i forgot?)of all the FAR exam)

    Good luck!!! Most online polls i've seen say that FAR is the toughest of the 4!!! REG might be a close 2nd 🙂 ?

    Would you guys consider it an accomplishment to pass aud and bec in this passed window while being subscribed to world of warcraft? LOL

    @bronzy

    I play Xbox live and stuff sometimes, but i threw out everything that wastes time while I am studying for my exams. So yes i would be surprised if you can pass and play games. My suggestion is quit it and do whats important to your life.
