With treasury stock transactions….. cost method recognizes any gain/loss once reissued or retired…..par method reverses the original issuance immediately?

Ok I just learned that with the cost method….R/E is NEVER credited! (when T/S is issued) It is only debited once APIC is reduced by what it was credited for originally. Does that make sense?!

I believe that is right. The entry for cost method is – dr. Treasury Stock cr. cash for the cost… for the par method the entry is dr. t/s and apic in excess of par and cr. paid in capital t/s and cash… just what I remember…

It's going ok…still on stockholder's equity. I dunno how I am gonna make it through another 12 modules tonight seriously. I may just skip over some (like personal f/s, etc.) Ones that I don't think will be tested and if they are…I will get like 1 or 2 MCQs on. I wanna focus on investments, and gov't and NFP. I think I might take your approach and pop the Wiley CD in and do some multiple choice questions on the computer …that way I am getting a variety of questions!

Yep! I saw your earlier posting – it's the “?Questions”….I did 10 for the first 3 sections! I am happy I just did the first 2 and got both of them right!! lol yay 🙂 I just did a bond amortization table to figure out what the CV of the bond would be. Honestly I was scared of those but feel that I understand the concept and how to do it! yay…now I only have to understand the other 13 modules haha

Thanks! I chose 30…but only the last 10 I selected showed up 🙁 Then it brought me to the progress results page…I got 8 out of 10 correct with bonds, yay! Some of those questions were stupid though I hope I get them on the exam! haha
