I wonder how this exam is actually graded. I understand that questions are weighted differently, WC is 10 pts, and simulations are basically positively graded. At times I wonder if people who get 75's on FAR are getting anywhere near 75% correct.

    REG: 5/26 - 90hrs (Pass) AUD: 7/1 - 86hrs (Pass)
    BEC: 7/22 - 72hrs (Pass) FAR: 8/31 - 56hrs (Wait)

On a side note, I will be passing the 300 total hour mark for the CPA Exam in the morning while watching the F9 – NFP Lecture on 4 hours of sleep studying just before I go in to work. Fitting isn't it?

    REG: 5/26 - 90hrs (Pass) AUD: 7/1 - 86hrs (Pass)
    BEC: 7/22 - 72hrs (Pass) FAR: 8/31 - 56hrs (Wait)

Idrathergolf – I honestly doubt people are really getting 75% on this…I mean sure…you have the people who actually did get 75 or better, but I think there is a lot of scaling going on – especially for FAR (I hope so anyway…)

Wow 300 hours…that makes me so sad hah. It is crazy cuz FAR is our last section and I feel like I have miles and miles to go still =/

hey glad there are others still working away

if you look at the score performance analysis – it does seem like there is some sort of curve

the other thing i wonder about – sometimes my exam is appears to weighted differently thsn what they suggest on the breakout

how do they weight that and score it?

I have no idea how they weight and score it! All I know is that some questions are easier and some are harder and you get more points for the harder ones. So they basically don't count the ones you got wrong (like they don't get deducted from your score)….basically all your right answers get added up and the harder ones are weighted more. I have NO idea about the SIMS lol…I think they just say ya ok they attempted to do it give them credit haha

Do you think they actually look at the SIMS when grading? I assumed it was some sort of spreadsheet value technique for the calculation answers.

    REG: 5/26 - 90hrs (Pass) AUD: 7/1 - 86hrs (Pass)
    BEC: 7/22 - 72hrs (Pass) FAR: 8/31 - 56hrs (Wait)

yes the sims are a mystery – people post that they did not complete the sim or just filled in a guess and still score in the 80s or 90s

The sims are not graded by anyone. They are graded by a computer, including the written essay. They key is to hit on the key words the computer was programmed to look for. And as said before, with the MC questions, you basically start at 0 and want to earn your way to a 75 (including sims). Questions with a higher difficulty are weighted more heavily, and this exam is going to adjust to your performance. Also, keep in mind that 5 MC questions per testlet are “pretest” questions that are tossed out by the graders.

When you break it out the sims really aren't worth very much. 1/3 of the score for the sims comes from one of the written portions. When people run out of time and don't finish one, but still pass that means they got luck and had their complete written portion graded. I, for example, ran out of time on my second simulation (barely got any of it done and completely left the written blank). Walked out in total certainty of a fail, and somehow got an 85.

The WC sections are graded by an actual human per Cindy from Yaeger (that is why you are only graded on one of them)

I think you are right MPoni. I assumed that was why Becker places such a strong emphasis on using proper grammar

    REG: 5/26 - 90hrs (Pass) AUD: 7/1 - 86hrs (Pass)
    BEC: 7/22 - 72hrs (Pass) FAR: 8/31 - 56hrs (Wait)

I think I am calling it quits…leases are pissing me off and starting to confuse me! I have the basics down (capital vs. operating) but all these leaseback stuff etc. flying right over my head! I may have to let that stuff go…I just reviewed deferred taxes as well. I think I have a pretty good handle on that because I have dealt with that at work before (kinda seems more REG related, too)…so maybe tomorrow I will pick up with SHE.

Are you guys just as excited about getting Tuesday over as I am?!

Well am with oobaisi on this one per what I have been told by Becker is that WC are graded by a machine thats why they emphasize that you use correct grammer and spelling stay on topic but you don't have be to necessarily be correct about what your writting. Its kind of like a grammer and spell check thing thats basically being applied.
