So i got a 73 on FAR after a 74 and i have lost my credit for Reg..wish i had more time to sulk, but then i want to give FAR in the first week of october so i have more time for Reg which i plan to give in nov end…

I have 3 weeks left to give FAR …Till now for FAR i have been using the becker videos and the WTB for mcqs…i feel WTB is not at all representative of the exam so my new plan is to re-read every chapter from becker and then do MCQ’s from becker..and then buy ninja mcqs once am done with becker mcqs…is that a good study plan? or should i use both becker and ninja together?

    Finally done!!! Experience-pending. Ethics- Pending.
    Reg 78 / 73/82.
    Aud 74/89.
    BEC 72 /78.
    FAR 74/ 73/ 82.

I haven't used Becker so I can't speak for any of that material, but I used the NINJA MCQs (and Notes) exclusively for FAR and while I didn't pass, I thought that the MCQs alone were more than sufficient to provide me with all of the knowledge I needed to pass the exam, so I would definitely recommend them. I used the same combination to pass both REG and AUD prior to taking FAR.

I used Becker. I studied a total of 24 days (including test day) for the exam. I only got about 50% of the Becker MCQs done and an even smaller percentage of the SIMS. I didn't take a practice exam. Going into the exam, I was fully prepared to retake…even more so walking out of the exam.

I literally jumped out of my chair in shock when I saw my score last night.

My advice: Understand which learning style fits your personality. Are you someone who can pay attention in class (lectures) and take good notes? Do you learn better with a hands-on approach (SIMS)? Does trial and error fit you the best? (MCQs)?

Either way, set a budget of hours you plan on studying (FAR = 128 for me) and stick to it. Then, use the Becker weighted percentages of the material to budget further (for example, government is 10% of the exam…so I spent 13 hours on government…no more, no less).

It is very important to not get bogged down…I could've spent 40 hours on government, or 25 hours on pensions, or 15 hours on foreign currency…but it's not worth it…expose yourself to the weighted material, trust your instinct, test your instinct, change your thinking on areas you aren't testing well on…

I am most proud of my FAR score, because I spent the least amount of time studying for this exam, which meant I wasted less time on each part (AUD – 1st, REG – 2nd, BEC – 3rd, FAR – 4th).

    Good luck…you'll pass

Thanks cramming works..congrats on your passing score..i did an insane amount of hours for far..been at it since march…i think i need a change in my approach of study..both the times i have used same becker videos and wtb mcqs..so time to add something else in the equation..and like you said i will try the weighted material approach…i need to tackle my weak areas first rather than keeping it for the last…pensions , stockholders equity , stmnt of cash flows and lots of journal entries practice…

when should i add ninja? anyone who has used ninja mcqs, do you start working on it along with your review material or as a final review?

I'm in the same boat as you…I just took FAR (my first CPA exam) and got a 70, I'm pissed that I have to study for this again since it's my worst concept. How I studied before this is I used Becker lectures and WTD bank and didn't bother working SIM questions. However, this time I plan on working more on SIMS questions to understand the journal entries more because I struggle with JE.

Also I might purchase NiNja 10 point see if that helps

    |FAR| - 72, 83
    |AUD| - 73, 76
    |REG| - 76
    |BEC| - 73, 82

    ALL DONE!!

@pia ach, according to my NINJA MCQ dashboard, for FAR there are 1,432 MCQs and 71 SIMS. I went over the NINJA Notes as my main reading material before starting the MCQs but I did start them fairly close to the beginning of my studying. The information that is provided with each MCQ is essentially a review book, just formatted differently, so I'd recommend starting the MCQs before the review phase if you decide to go with them.
