Hi gangsters, please help me to choose a “study plan” or “attacking strategy” to fit my situation. Being too confident that I would pass AUD and REG last year, I paid for FAR before these scores came out. It is obverse that I failed and the NTS for FAR is expiring on 2/18. I have just finished my AUD this morning and have to give FAR a shot. I have to pass FAR at the end of May before I lose BEC. Working full time and heading into the busy seasons, I am only having 2 options here:

    1. try to get as much as possible done before 2/18 and give it a shot.

    2. pace myself for the exam at the end of may, and just show up to take the exam on 2/18 even if I was only on CH3.

If doing option 1, I probably would only finish (rush) through all video lectures and maybe have time to do a couple final practice exams at the end. After the exam, I will definitely come back to redo the whole thing for May

If doing option 2, I would pace myself on a 4 month study schedule to take the test in May. I will finish a chapter and then do MCQ. When 2/18 comes, I will just show up and take the exam no matter which chapter I am on.

Please let me know what you think, I am pretty sure some of you guys were in the same shoes.

    @zyt2785,

This whole process is crazy, huh? Well, I used Becker and Yaeger for FAR. For me, Yaeger was better since it is more of a teaching review, I really needed that. The Cram is great too. I liked Cindys teaching style also. Here is a link :

https://www.another71.com/cpa-exam-forum/topic/yaeger-crams-any-thoughts that I think is helpful. I pretty much used this method and passed FAR. I think the cram was good for me since I had already a good base of knowledge to pull from. I also posted another study plan that Jeff has come up with and it is posted on the ” I have BEC in 19 Days……” That is a good plan for a short period of time. You didn't mention if you had taken FAR before or not, so I will assume it is your first time. I would go for it. Meaning, that I would get ready to take that exam on the 18th regardless–you only have two windows, I would give it my all both times. There is so much info in FAR that pacing yourself over a longer period of time might work against you. Just my opinion.

    Best of luck to ya…gangster!

Thank you soo much yankee. I have been following your post for a long time, and I was definitely pulling for you when you were taking REG and AUD. We take these two about the same time, so I read a lot of your post 🙂 I need to get more active in here ^.^

This is my first time taking FAR. I have 2011 Yaeger course , 2011 Weily question bank (CD, not online account), NINJA notes and 2011 Weily book, would you suggest me to get the 2012 Yaeger course? Thank you!

I would say go for it. You have over a month and I have seen people pass in less than two weeks! Plus, someone told me when I began studying in Oct that FAR is something that needs to be accomplished in a month and a half intense study, and not drawn out but I didn't listen and have been taking days off at a time here and there and now I'm behind and have to really review the first chapters when its crunch time. You already paid for it so what do you have to lose?

    B 71 - 79 EXPIRED
    A 69 - 75 EXPIRED
    R 65 - 48 - 45
    F 56 - 61 - 65 - 64

Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Wiley Text and Ninja Notes

Pipe in anytime…the more the merrier!

I would say that you are fine with the 2011 material. I believe that there was a thread started by Acct. and I think Jeff started one too. You can search the CPA Exam study/test taking sections and I bet you will find it. I will look for it next time and post if I can remember…..Audit has a choke hold on my brain right now….ugh. I really liked the notes from Yaeger on FAR. Use them too. Cindy did a great job putting it together. It really helped with “boot” etc.

    ok, found it… https://www.another71.com/cpa-exam-forum/topic/is-the-cpa-exam-changing-in-2012-official-answer

Good luck with your tests this window!!!!
