FAR Study MCQ's -Curious about scores for those who've passed the exam…

For those that have passed the FAR exam, what would you say was your average score when in study mode? I’ve been doing a bunch of questions in the Wiley Test Bank, and keep averaging in the 60’s/low 70’s. It’s getting a little frustrating considering the time I’ve put into to studying/taking notes/practicing MCQs…

So I’m curious…for those who passed, were you regularly in the 70s/80s/90s?

I did not use Wiley but Becker – I think I was usually in the 70's and low 80's, even in the days right before the exam. At the time I was worried that wasn't as high as I had hoped, but I guess it was OK. Keep plugging away, you still have plenty of time!

    FAR - 92 (4/27/12)
    AUD - 96 (7/17/12)
    BEC - 92 (8/30/12)
    REG - 91 (11/12/12)

When I passed, 76, I was getting in the 80% range but that was too long ago to count. On my last attempt, I was getting consistently in the 75% range. I got a 71! I'm in the middle of studying for this monster again and I won't be satisfied until those averages are consistently in the 95% range! I'm sick of this!

Thanks for the feedback everyone! It's refreshing to hear that several of you had the same feeling/experience. Of course, I just need to pull those scores out of the 60s, and I'll feel even better. I have one more week of videos/notes to take, I'm going to go gangbusters on these MCQs (exam for me is July 1st–yep, first day of the new window–want to get it DONE!)

Hello kind of a lurker around here, but I did manage to pass one section so far and it was FAR so thought I could put in my two cents 🙂 while doing the MCQs out of Wiley I kept scoring 60s-70s and thought I couldn't pass. I got super discouraged because I could never get above 75 on the practice but miraculously I passed FAR and on the score report it said I scored stronger on my MCQs. So don't get too discouraged… or get discouraged and then push even harder until the test :p

When I passed the second time, I was getting between 75-85. What really saved me on the exam was practicing SIMS. Even though most people say that practicing SIMS is a waste of time if you know the material, it was helpful for me to practice them to see what ways the exam could possibly test your knowledge. Good luck!

I was scoring in the 70-85% range depending on the topic. I would also agree with CPAEms, some people say the sims aren't worth your time, but I reviewed them (in Wiley and Becker) frequently the the two weeks prior to my exam and I felt that it really helped me out.

Yeah, I was typically in the 70-90% range using Becker. Remember that your score on the exam isn't based on percent correct. A number of the questions you're tested on are pre-test questions that don't count towards anything, and some questions count more than others. Take that into account, not just the percentages.

    BEC - 90 PASSED
    FAR - 84 PASSED
    AUD - 93 PASSED
    REG - 84 PASSED

    I DID IT!!!!

    Using Becker Self-Study

Well Camfairbanks, I hope the scoring Gods smile on me too, because I REALLY don't want to have to study all this material again. It's painful!

CPAEms and Bobooh–Thanks for the advice. I really haven't spent time on the SIMS, but I figured that I should go through a bunch before the exam.

I'm using Yaeger and the Wiley test bank, so with my one review week (unfortunately 2 of those days I have to work), my plan is to go through all the MCQs and SIMS that Yaeger assigns, then head back to the test bank for added questions…
