Not sure if anyone gives a darn but thought I would say…something that helped me in my studies and I think helped overall in taking the exam is to really step back and make sure you understand the “why” of what you are doing and hammer in the conceptual aspect. Regardless of what the question asked if me, I wrote out journal entries and studied the financial statement impact on nearly every question I did throughout my studies and I truly think it makes a big difference in being able to tackle the SIMs as well. It helps to be able to trouble shoot when you aren't certain of an answer and just helps everything click together. Not sure if that help anyone, and it definitely takes longer to get through material when you approach it this way but thought I would pass it along.

@A1lessio I 100% attribute it to the Bisk review videos. I finally bought them and it was so worth it. I just went back and bought them for all sections. They are a bit dated, so not sure how helpful they will be with REG, but for FAR they were AWESOME

I've been hard at work all day building and now finalizing my killer JE list. Ninja Plus sounds promising, but I need to cut back on study materials. I am going into information overload.

Can anyone give me some tips for researching GAAP? I have the ‘basic' subscription to FASB.org that allows me to access the ASC but I find it difficult to easily find info on specific transactions.

For instance, I'm researching the equity method of accounting for investments and can't seem to find “the 20%” criteria.

@teal or anyone that used Ninja Plus.. how many hours are the videos? Im somewhat behind and I with work I will have approx only 8 days of review. Should I still bother with the videos? Im willing to spend some extra money as long as I pass and save the retake money.

emichelle2321 – I agree, I was struggling with statement of cash flows. Scoring <30% on the mcqs and I just couldn't grasp it. I re-watched the lectures, re-wrote the notes and it just clicked. I redid all the questions and made so much more sense. I scored 76% on the second go.

Turned down skiing today, a Christmas party tonight and another party tomorrow. FAR all weekend!

@spartans – it says that FAR is 72 hours of video. I only watched the videos in the areas I was struggling to grasp the concepts. He goes point by point and does examples, but I think the thing that helped me most was that he went over every point that could possibly be on the exam and did at least one example with each one. He also pointed out any tricks or questions the exam loves to test.

Question: is there a numerical list of the simulation topics in Ninja MCQs? Great thing about Ninja is that you can customize the multiple choice questions – however you cannot with the simulations unless you know the number and corresponding topic.

@Notorious – I feel your pain, I got a 71. Took off a couple weeks and going to start back at it this week and just try to review some of the topics that I didn't have full GRASSP (pun intended) on.

@Notorious- right there with you buddy- scored a 69 which is unfathomable to me and has really took all motivation right out of me– took the weekend off and am now ready to kick FAR's A@@… I refuse to let this thing beat me. Hang in there.
