    Hello everyone,

I have just started studying for the FAR with Becker. I finished F1, and just did the simulations. I had major issues with the spreadsheet function. There was a sim dealing with the Size Test for segment reporting, and I wanted to plunk the numbers into the spreadsheet, do a quick =sum(a1:a9), then =sum(b1:b9), then =sum(a1:b1) etc (you see where I am going). I could NOT get it to work. Then, when I just did =a1+a2+a3 (yadda), the number was wrong. I also couldn't just copy/paste the formula over to the next column. So, what gives with the spreadsheet function? Am I just better off plunking away on the provided calculator (and running the risk of missing or miskeying a number)? Any help to figure this out before my exam (which is in May so I have plenty of time) would be much appreciated.

    Jen

@JenM76 From what I have read, the spreadsheet on the exam/in Becker does not act as a “normal” Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. From my experience it works with basic additions and subtractions (when you enter an equal sign in the cell). Anything else I recommend using the calculator.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Spreadsheet provided in the exam is a piece of crap. Don't bother try it. AICPA are trying to implement Excel but I don't think we can see it in any 2016 exam. 🙂

Hey, do you guys suggest focusing on Ninja MCQ during final review week or should I do the Becker Questions the 2nd time?Im ambivalent which one to go with. I really hope to pass FAR in April. Thanks for any feedback.

If you did all Becker MCQ in the ” right way “, there is no point to re-do them again.

FAR is kicking my A$$ today- I can not seem to get one single question correct on PP&E (okay slight exaggeration)- don't know whether I should spend another day on it or move on and come back to it…any advice? Grrrrrrr

and they ask me why I drink...

Where should I begin? I started my CPA journey from May 2009 and I have attempted all four exams over 15 times in total. I finally passed AUD August 2014 and was so motivated to complete the others. That was far from happening. As you imagine, I have lost AUD FEB 2016, so I am back to square one. I was thinking about doing FAR MAY 2016 but I have not started studying. Any pointers? I feel like I am to move on from CPA and do something else (not sure what, as I need CPA for my job).

PPE are relatively easy and important in FAR. You can't miss them. What is the biggest problem when you did PPE MCQ?

Thanks marqzho. I did the becker MCQ once and averaged in the 60's and some in 70's depending on the topics. I was just unsure whether there would be benefits to do them the second time. I will probably hit Ninja instead then.

Thanks for the input on the spreadsheet function. That really blows that it can't even do a simple sum function. What use is it to have it available for use then? Just a waist of time. Anyway, guess I am stuck with the calculator then.

Actually it did simple sum function. It's just crap when compared with Excel. Don't expect too much. Simple calculator is your best friend 🙂

For me, I tend to just remember the answer when I did MCQ the second time. And also it is a good indicator when you try Ninja MCQ.

I am almost done with Becker and definitely thinking of purchasing NINJA MCQ's for the sole reason of seeing different questions. I feel like at times I am tending to remember the answer as well, which may be a false sense of confidence (I hope not at least).

I finish F10 this week and was wondering the best strategy for final review. Obviously tons of progress tests, but is the investment in ninja worth it? I sit April 14th so I have plenty of time, just want to make sure I utilize it.
