AnonymousInactiveMalotu hang in there, you seemed to have a prety good grasp of the concepts, maybe you draw most of your weak areas. You should knock it out the next time.
marqzho wow I had never seen that. I think that since the 25,000 are from UNRECOGNIZED pension liability then they are from the OCI account. The 12,000 are taken out from that account (debited on OCI and credited to liability I think ) to take it into account for the current period and the 8,000 is where I am lost bc I do not think they come from OCI. But look that they are asking for APL and not the PBO, maybe that changes everything bc the APL measurement is different. Hopefully someone pinchs in and helps you more.

Claudia408ParticipantStudying for FAR there is so much material!! Is it a good idea to read the book/watch lectures taking notes then go back and hammer hundreds of MCQs? I feel like if I the book/watch lectures and then start doing MCQs for that section I'll finish in about 6 months.

marqzhoParticipantPlease help!
The following information pertains to Hall Co.รขโฌโขs defined-benefit pension plan at December 31, 20X4:
Unfunded projected benefit obligation $25,000
Unrecognized prior service cost 12,000
Net periodic pension cost 8,000
Hall made no contributions to the pension plan during 20X4.
In its December 31, 20X4, statement of stockholders' equity, what amount should Hall report as excess of additional pension liability over unrecognized prior service cost?Ans: $5000
Correct! Hall has a minimum pension liability that is equal to the unfunded projected benefit obligation of $25,000. Since Hall made no contributions to the plan during 20X4, however, an accrued pension liability of $8,000 will already be recognized. As a result, Hall will need to record an additional liability for the difference of $17,000. This will usually be recorded with a credit to an additional pension liability of $17,000 and a debit to a deferred pension asset of $17,000. The amount recognized as a deferred asset is limited to the balance of unrecognized prior service cost, or $12,000 in this case. The excess of $5,000 is reported in a stockholders' equity account.
Here is the explanation. Can anyone please translate all those into english? lol

This topic is killing me.
Now that I watched all the lectures and did almost 1000 MCQs. I start forgetting what I have learnt in some of the topics. I don't even remember a thing now in NFP, cash flow, govt., etc. I am so screwed and my exam is in less than two weeks.

AnonymousInactiveIn my last two weeks I used to do at least a set of 30mcqs that had topics that I felt I forgot. If you went thru the material before focusing on concepts and understanding them then you should be fine bc probably you will pick up stuff quickly as you review them. At least that was my experience. Also I had google sheets per weak topics with mcqs that I found hard and that that had key concepts. Sometimes at work I would go and see them to reinforce concepts and to help with the forgetfulness.
I tried to do at least 80mcqs on my last week(work full time) and let the software told me were I was weak on. Good luck and do not panic, you still have a lot of time.

Jdn9201ParticipantGeneral question, but is anyone else here using Roger? I've used his program exclusively for my other 3, and am doing the same for FAR. I think I'm a bit crazy, but I decided to sign up for the exam on 2/28. I know it's a shorter period of time than what is recommended, but after getting my AUD pass, I just want to get this over with.

ModazParticipantAnyone is interested in making a study group? at least 101 challenges till the exam?
I'm just starting to study FAR, and my plan is to sit for the exam by the end of march.. big challenge but doable.
I'll be using random studying materials (Yaeger Course, Wiley book, Roger Free Vids) but my main source will be the Ninja MCQLess than 2 months to finish FAR.. BIG CHALLENGE! who's in?

Andyred04Participant@Modaz Better shoot for the beginning of April.. March is a blackout period ๐ I think FAR is definitely doable in 2 months. I started studying mid-December and I'm taking FAR Friday. Feeling pretty prepared but going to crush countless Ninja MCQs the rest of the week leading up to my exam. Good luck!
