Hello, fellow FAR slayers! I took FAR in May and scored a 72. I took the weekend to take that in (and celebrate passing AUD – my first exam passed yay!) But now, I'm back at it. FAR is going down this time.

    Hi everyone!

Unfortunately this is my second go around with the CPA. I have had a hard battle trying to work full time, have a personal life and study. Clearly studying is what gave and my 18 months got me. I lost BEC and officially starting over. I am taking FAR for the third time and nervous with the new set up. Hopefully I can keep my head up and continue studying. I am using Becker hoping this time around I pass. I'm sitting in 10 days, 8/31. Send some prayers my way!

    @benjamin17

    Thanks!

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out -
because I was not a trade unionist; Then they came for the Jews,
and I did not speak out - because I was not a Jew; Then they came for me -
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Does anyone have any advice/websites for A/R reconciliations with customers? Becker does not really have any of it in their book

@morgan27 Absolutely! I can relate. I lost BEC in February. I know how tough this exam is with a family, full-time work (and since I'm underemployed, applying for work). It's coming close. My exam is on the 30th in the afternoon.

    @kdcpa
I can relate on Becker for simulations. Just try to stick with the order. Get those skills practice done, and attempt the simulations the same way. Even though the answers are accessible, give an honest guess first. I try that on MCQ's with Becker too. I like AICPA Sample Test sims and Gleim's sims. I got Gleim as well, some of the best sims. I may take my exam rehearsal just for those sims depsite my need to catch up with Becker's assignments.

@SallyCPA it sounds like you're using the N.I.N.J.A. Framework for Becker. How is that working out for you? Have you spoken with academic support at Becker regarding what they are not covering? Are you coming across those types of MCQ's anywhere? I came across an article that may be useful? https://axmentor.com/learning-lab/blog/support/how-to-reconcile-your-accounts-receivable-account/

I got my score for REG using Becker LOL. I fell 8 points from my last attempt from 67 to 59 from before I got Becker and only had Gleim and Ninja. I am beginning to think @Jeff (like in his podcast on “Live” classes) and Kesler/others are right. Maybe, I had something going well in self-study. And the other thing that comes to mind is switching reviews typically brings my scores down? Either that or maybe Gleim suits my personality well?

I got 3 reviews; but I really have to pick one and stick with one and use the others to fill in gaps/learn on tough topics. With my exam approaching at 9 days, I'm taking Mock Exam 2 now before a doctors appointment. I'm starting to get some ideas how I can move forward after this. Thanks, ninjas! Keep up the good work! Stay busy. Stay focused. Be encouraged. Many have gone before us and done this. We can get there, too.

@dab88 Read the prompt. The instructions will tell you whether or not to place zeros. If you do not do what the instructions says, it will count against you.

I found using Ninja MCQ with a combination of Gleim simulations to be extremely helpful. I lost my FAR credit from 2015 and had to retake in Q2. I ended up passing with an 84! I've tested out a lot of CPA materials and found Becker to be the least helpful other than their mnemonics. I think the layout Becker uses is geared towards memorization. I highly suggest everyone to use Gleim simulations…they cover DRS!

Could someone please explain to me how to get Net Position for government accounting. I understand the basic formula: Assets+Deferred Outflows-Liabilities-Deferred Inflows. But could someone please show an example and explain it? I have tried to follow Becker and for some reason it is not sticking to me. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

    Mtaylo-

I wrote a long reply to +1 your switch to T1000 mode and getting the AUD expiration extended out to Nov. Another71 seems to have eaten it and shat it into the never-never. This is my second shorter stab at it.

This is just past an 8 year battle from starting to hopefully finishing, and I hope you and I can both be done with it by the end of 2017.
The CPA Crusade has been too long and I'd like to return home to spend more time with my family once I can say this long campaign is done.

By 1pm, I am off to the County Library for another 7 hours until closing time. I'm bleeding FAR from my eyeballs at this point, yet seems there is always yet another rule, exception, IFRS, or other bugger to try to hammer into memory. The CPAs working for me don't know half of what I've come to learn.

Matylo- I see the avatar change and approve!
People joked I was the T1000 working through college. [poor kid, rich college]. What a long time ago, but few bad-asses like him in SF since then.

I'm glad you got the AUD extension. That is a major win in itself.
Let us continue to throw ourselves at this and be done in the next few months.
It has been an 8 year journey for me, and I'd like to be home with the family a bit more after all this CPA crusading.

I think the requirements have gotten a bit too much. I hire CPAs for our business, and find myself increasingly having to
help them with the accounting. There is a noticeable difference between the pre Sarbanes Oxley and those who came after.
Our last auditor was *not* good, but there seems to be an increasing shortage of auditors.

@Mscfisher I called the state board to see what was going on with my payment coupon, they said I should have it in 5 minutes lol. This isn't the first time they slacked on it. Hopefully I can pay and get an NTS before all of the slots run out. I'll fly to my test if I need too lol.

@Ne'O Appreciate you mentioning the terminator, that definitely lights a fire lol! I'm still trying to get over my fail. A research question is worth at least 7 points, and I know for sure I got it wrong because I had to move to the next testlet since time was running out. I should have gotten a 78 for sure, this fail probably hurts the most. Another71, how ironic 🙂 Hopefully we both get passed FAR, Dec will be 5 years since I first sat for Auditing, this crap need to end ASAP.

    AUD - 1st - 60 (12/12), 61 (2/13), 61 (8/13), 78! (11/15)
    REG - 55 (2/16) 69 (5/16) Retake(8/16)
    BEC - 71(5/16) Retake (9/16)
    FAR - (8/16)

    * my previous post should have said I need every free day. So what's everyone's strategy. I think I just want to do endless sims and writing notes. Not sure purchasing gliem will be of much use at this point. I like Becker. I just need to work faster. @ vans001 sorry I don't remember that stuff right now. Hopefully someone else can shed some light.

Hi Everybody! Found out while on vacation in beautiful Ireland (Helped ease the sting of not passing) that I didn't pass FAR again!!! Thought I'd be done with this agonizing journey! Have three more windows before I lose one. Gonna try a cram for 2 weeks…couldn't be any worse than my Q2 score with studying for 2 months after a fail of 70 in Q1 to get a frickin' 66! Good luck everyone retesting…Let's slay this beast!

    Florida summers are cruel.
My exam is in a few days, and I took a break from studying to go outside to get the mail.
My Dr. neighbor to the left was outside and let me know one of our neighbors on our small street had lost their child in a DUI hit n run the other night.
The funeral will be in a few days, right before the exam. They're good people of kind heart, and I'm going to feel like a smuchk spending only an hour or two with them before I have to come home and finish studying for the exam the next day.

The best I can do is take the exam, come home and spend more time with them.
The father and son work together, so it is going to wreck the father up something fierce not to see his son each day.
I hate florida summers. The morale gets low by September.
