@CPA4birthdaypresent – I try to limit studying at home because that's my “safe haven” and I want to seperate my place of rest from this monster as much as possible lol. Plus I find all types of “excuses” at home to stop or not start studying. I try to head to Starbucks during the week if it works out and go on the weekend. I have about 3 Starbucks locations I rotate between and my boyfriend shows his support some days by going with me while he works on his work for his business.

So, I am a week behind I originally planned on starting. Then I said I would start on Sunday and that did not happen. I WILL start F1 lecture today. My fear of this section is getting the best of me and I am procrastinating. Even catching up on the past few days of posts in this thread has me a little freaked lol. I know that the more time I give myself to put towards it, the better so I need to woman up and get at it.

Waiting on BEC scores and preparing for FAR – aiming to take it in July and AUD in August.

My plan is to read through the Wiley FAR book during the next 4 weekends, then spend 2 weekends cramming in WTB…and driving to and from work each day listen to the NINJA Audio for the chapters I read over the weekend. The book is definitely intimidating, but I'm hoping this plan of attack will work…!

UPDATE: okay everyone, I KNOW I said I was going to do the NINJA approach…BUUUUTTT… I decided to stick to my normal routine!

I feel like the NINJA approach could be either really good or really bad…. being that this is possibly my last exam, I don't want to risk it….my routine seemed to work for the other sections, I will just have to be sure to stick with my schedule with FAR!!

    @TaRenee,

You have to do what works. No one can fault you for that. The flexible the better….FAR is a beast so pass it however you can. I am throwing in every thing I got. Yaeger, wiley, ninja audio and notes, flash cards, books, internet and the kitchen sink ( the kitchen sink reminds me to stop eating so I won't have to wash dishes, I'm gaining too much stress, munchies weight) lol.

    It begins with a 75
Been here too long as a cheerleader....ready to pass

@tncincy same here!!! I haven't been to the gym in forever 🙁

changing my study plan to what I usually do caused me to re schedule my exam to August 1st.

But I rather not rush it and fail just because I'm so anxious to finish!

Still waiting on my BEC score though :/ Friday can't get here soon enough.

Quick question everyone. What is the difference between replacement cost and market value.

    Hey Mike!

There are a few steps in determining market value (MV). MV is the middle value of a) market ceiling, b) replacement cost, or c) market floor.

Replacement cost isn't always necessarily the middle value, and thus isn't always what is used as market value. So first thing to do is to calculate the market ceiling, which is net realizable value (NRV). NRV = Selling price – cost of disposal. After that, you calculate the market floor, which is NRV – normal profit margin.

Now you take the three amounts, replacement cost (usually given), market ceiling, and market floor and find the MIDDLE value, which is the correct market value to use when comparing Cost vs. Market.

    Hope this helps 🙂

@tiredcpacandidate – I hadn't looked at the NINJA method before this weekend. But I think I like it! I have been watching the videos whenever I have a little free time, including when I'm putting my kids to bed. I don't usually take notes while watching the videos, sometimes I do electronically. I'm watching on my iPad. Then once the kids are asleep I read through Roger's book and take notes. I like the idea that highlighting doesn't get it in your brain, so true!! I need to write and rewrite and work through this stuff. I am going through Roger's book really thoroughly. I think after I'm done I'll rewrite my notes and hit the m/c questions hard. I know that the m/c questions are really going to help me.

I'm excited about FAR actually, I work at a NPO and before this I worked at a CPA firm where I primarily audited NPO's and Government entitites. Now I'm responsible for the monthly financial statements amongst other things. I feel like I've continued to learn and just recently I am starting to feel like my career is stalling. We are actually going through our annual audit right now, so I've been more busy than usual. I am a little behind where I'd like to be on my studying. This is the last week of our audit, so hopefully I'll be catching up in no time.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.
