@Robastu, good luck with your score.

I was rolling through the F1 – F4. Then, I hit F5 (leases and bonds) and F6 (pensions). I've been cursing at my computer screen all week. Now I remember how much I hated this stuff in college. It's a lot to remember! I hope you are correct and the last few sections are a breeze. Either way, the next month will be HELL!

I thought Becker did a great job with AUD and REG. And I think they did a “so-so” job with BEC. There were a few of things on that test that Becker didn't cover.

Hello all! I'm waiting on my BEC score (hurry up friday!!) and I'll be taking FAR on July 1. I'm moving onto F3 tomorrow, but so far it seems doable. I'm fresh out of school so this has been drilled into my head for the past 4 years nonstop. Good luck to all and I'm sure I'll come back next week with about 100 questions I need help with!

Edited to add: Ironically, my birthday is July 9 so I'm joining the club of getting it out of the way before my birthday!

    BEC - 83
    FAR - 83
    REG - 74, 78
    AUD - 76

Also, my method of study so far has been to keep a notebook where I write down the rationale behind the questions I miss. Most of the time that alone helps me remember for next time, but even if it doesn't I have a comprehensive set of rules to study. I'm using Becker self-study and I don't really have a problem with it (yet). I might feel differently once I get my BEC score.

    BEC - 83
    FAR - 83
    REG - 74, 78
    AUD - 76

I'm starting FAR tomorrow with 7 hours a day 5 days a week. I plan to take FAR in July and AUD at the beginning of August. Possibly take REG at the end of August as long as the studying for FAR and AUD go well.

I won't be working so I should be more than prepared for this.I was wondering if the Ninja way is to view all 10 lectures first followed by MCQ's and so on. Not sure if this is a good option, won't I forget the lecture as I move into MCQ's?

    Hey zakahracw!

I am using the NINJA method and yes, you are supposed to view all 10 lectures before doing any MCQs (other than the ones in the videos). If you are taking notes while watching the lectures I don't think you'll have too big of an issue remembering the key concepts of the lectures once you get to the MCQs…you may have to refresh yourself on the minutia, but hey, that's why it's called “studying” 🙂

This is what I EXPECT after completing all 10 lectures…not sure if that's what will actually happen though.

Good luck and take FULL advantage of your CPA prep time while not working!

Hey zakahracw, I'm doing the NINJA approach this time around, because I realize I learn more from the multiple choice and that the lectures usually hold me up.

So I like the idea of going through the lecture, writing my notes, then moving on to the multiple choice. I plan to keep refreshing myself as I go on by looking back at my notes, so that I don't completely forget what each chapter was about.

Everyone learns differently, and depending on which part you are taking, your approach may be differently. The Becker way worked for REG and AUD (we will see about BEC Friday), but I know I won't have as much time as I would like on the Multiple choice doing it the Becker way. I rather save the questions til the end.

    FAR [62] 08.26.13(1) [76] 02.24.14(2) - God is able!!! 🙂

@ zakahracw – the NINJA method seems to make the most sense to me for FAR. The shear mass of info makes me think that if I did F1 MC and Sims at the beginning of my studying I would absolutely have to redo them by the time I finished F10. With just watching the lecture and notes I can move through the material more quickly and then only work the bulk of the MC questions once.

@Adam I do the MCQs/Sims right after I watch the lectures and then again during the “2 week review.” Then, I mark the ones I get wrong and do them again. Who cares if you forget a few things here or there, the MCQs help you understand the concepts in each chapter and what is important to know. The more MCQs you do, the better.

I personally watch the lectures, go back and take my own notes after, then read and take notes on the flashcards and then do all the MCQ and Sims (including final review ones) for that chapter. I do the progress tests after each chapter. It is very slow and painful, but it has worked for the 3 other exams so far (well I'll find out about REG in a week).

@BHDave10 or ANYBODY else, how many times do you plan on going through the multiple choice???

For all my other sections, I was about to go through the homework many times. REG 3 AUD 5 BEC 6 … but with FAR, I have it planned that I will go through it twice…. but this go around, I plan on actually focusing on the questions and taking my time to understand why they are right/wrong.

    I appreciate any responses!!!

I will go thru the MCQs twice. I will mark the ones I miss on the 2nd time around and do those a third time. Then, I will do as many progress tests as time allows.

The thing I am concerned about are sims. I got away with hardly studying for them for my last 2 exams. I don't think I will be able to do that on this one. I'm going to at least have to practice the JEs.

Also, memorizing the differences between GAAP and IFRS sucks! It's an information overload.

Please anyone could tell me how to stay focused and not give up in this long journey!!

Trying to take FAR first time 2010 (34) after studying for 3 months. I Don't know how to master the research questions, I don't understand how to get to the right answer.

about to start the most bogus and [hopefully] last journey of the CPA exam. This book is intimidating as hell so here goes nothing.

@BHDave10 .. Thanks! That's my plan as well, I just have to be sure to stick to my schedule! I will be glad when this madness is over 🙁

Waiting for my BEC score is not making it any better.
