Hii – I'm trying to finish up F10 today so I can begin my two weeks of review tomorrow, to take the exam Jul 25.

Does anyone have any tips or plans suggestions of what I should really be focusing on the next 2 weeks. I bought Ninja notes already, however have not had any time to rewrite them.

    thanks

Just took the Becker Final Review Test 2 and I didn't do to well (I took test 1 before my final review so I wanted a new test). I'm freaking out. I'm going to go take test 1.

    Testlet 1 – 57%

    Testlet 2 – 67%

    Testlet 3 – 50%

The sims on this the practice test were ridiculously easy so I'm worried about harder sims on the real exam. I take FARS tomorrow. =(

@vital11 Don't worry too much about your practice test results. The MCQ are extremely difficult, as they are meant to help you target your weak areas. They are incredibly discouraging and mentally draining, so if you have your real exam tomorrow, I would MAYBE do some brushing up on my weak areas (based on the exam results) and DEFINITELY do your best to just forget about the practice exam you just took.

Windows decided to update without warning during my second final review exam. To make matters worse, the update made the OS unstable and now I lost everything/Windows won't boot. Looks like no practice exam for me

@tncincy I usually score pretty low during the 1st round of MCQ's. The key is taking notes on the things you got wrong .. then I do them over again and for the ones that I still don't understand I print them out and work through them by hand. Always works for me 🙂

Hopefully this is my last FAR question ever ..

Cor-Eng Partnership was formed on January 2. Under the partnership agreement, each partner has an equal initial capital balance accounted for under the goodwill method. Partnership net income or loss is allocated 60% to Cor and 40% to Eng. To form the partnership, Cor originally contributed assets costing $30,000 with a fair value of $60,000 on January 2, while Eng contributed $20,000 in cash. Drawings by the partners during the year totaled $3,000 by Cor and $9,000 by Eng. Cor-Eng's year-end net income was $25,000.

Eng's initial capital balance in Cor-Eng is closest to:

    a. $40,000

    b. $25,000

    c. $60,000

    d. $20,000

    Answer: 60,000

    — It says G/W of $40,000 goes to Eng .. is this derived from his $20,000 contribution x 2 (his 1/2 interest)?

    Thank you!!

Initial capital outlays were 60k and 20k. The question states that the GW method was used to even up initial basis. With the GW method, the lesser partner is given goodwill to “even up” with the higher partner's capital. So Eng gets 40k in goodwill so he can be equal to Cor @ 60k

Here's an urgent, albeit extremely late question.

Do I use the research function wrong for sims, or is Becker screwed up when you access online? (I'm using Becker's site to take the exam)

Take Final Exam #2 for example. I get to the research question. It's about OCI in the interim financial statements. Search and find a result that says “for more on this topic, go to “XXX-XX Interim Reporting”. I think great, and I find it along the left directory. Then I click on it, and the subheading pops up with NO WORDS under it. Just a blank section that should contain information. This happened to me during REG too, what the hell is up with that?

Then I got to the foreign exchange tab and thought I could use research for that. Search for foreign exchange topics; get a result. No words. It pisses me off beyond belief

Hopefully someone will answer that tonight. In other news, I ended up mustering just enough energy to do Testlets 1, 3, and sims of the second final exam.

    Testlet 1 – 76%

    Testlet 3 – 80%

    Discontinued Op Sim – 76%

    Segment Reporting – 100%

    Extraordinary Items – 100%

    FV Measurement – 100%

    FC Translation – 45%

    Stock Options – 100%

Research – 0 (Blank, what the hell am I supposed to do?)

Well, that's about it for me with the exam tomorrow. I have to admit, there are huge topics that I don't have a clue on. For example, I can't keep remeasurement and translation FC exchange crap straight one bit. J/Es are an absolute mystery to me in a lot of key areas. Nothing left to do but roll the dice and do my best. I felt this way about REG too and I passed, so just gotta suck it up and acknowledge that you can't know everything. I would have liked to actually practice the Becker sims, and I might end up paying for not doing it, but c'est la vie. Good luck to everybody taking it this window.

@mypetmeatball I had the same issue with the research question on practice exam 2! Honestly, I found the answer by clicking through on the main topics where I thought the info would be and digging myself. The searches never seem to turn up what I'm looking for and like you said, sometimes take me to a straight up blank page. Gee, thanks! And is it just me or does it seem like they've made the search tool purposely not work well? I remember research questions being gimme points when I sat for the exam last year!
